Hi

I have been trying to fill in some blanks and I am having trouble on how to find out some information - my Great Great Nan's siblings, I have found a brother and a sister both born in the early 1800's, I am trying to find them on the 1841 census, but one I don't know how to find marriages from her birth too 1841 so not sure what name to search for, hope this makes sense.

The two names I have are (brother and sister)

James Thomas Jardine born 08/11/1808 St Katherine by the Tower and

Amelia Jardine born 11/11/1800 St Katherine by the Tower

Parents to Amelia and James are - James and Elizabeth

Pls can anyone tell me how I can try and find out marriages for them I am really stuck!!!!

Thanks xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

There is this public tree on ancestry ........... I wonde rif this is your Amelia? Where does the Prior come from???

It fits in with the 1841 Census ....... but no proof that she's yours, as no parents are shown.

Hi everyone - many many thanks for everyone helping me

A bit of an update - in answer to some questions Anna Maria is Amelia's sister, and I was just looking at the marriage certificate I have for Anna Maria Jardine who married James Quested and I am so excited, the witnessess on the certificate are GEORGE MARCH and AMELIA PRIOR MARCH - so Amelia being her sister and then this confirms really Amelia marrying George!!!!

Oh my god I am so excited - I love doing this.

HI can I be cheeky and ask for another bit of help

I am looking for a marriage for Harriet Amelia March - which I have found in 1891 West Ham but how do I know which one she married ie: Joseph Hobbs Miller OR Joseph Edwards??

I have found her birth aswell I think which is in 1867 Mile End, the census for 1871 she was three and this is the right Harriet although it states on the census that she was born in Stepney (London) and not Mile End (London), and I cannot find her on any other census as Harriet March the census also didn't confirm a middle name, am I looking at the wrong one??

Thanks - hope this isn't too confusing - I do waffle

There si this Harriet Miller on the 1901 census, it could be her

1901 Census

Name: Harriet Miller
Age: 33
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1868
Relation: Wife
Spouse's Name: Joseph
Gender: Female
Where born: Stepney, London, England

Civil parish: Westgate On Sea
Ecclesiastical parish: St James
Town: Westgate On Sea
County/Island: Kent
Country: England

Registration district: Thanet
Sub-registration district: Margate

Joseph Miller 37
Harriet Miller 33
Edith Miller 9
Louisa Miller 4
Mercy Miller 1

The only way to be sure woudl be to buy the marriage certificate

...... this would confirm the name of the bridegroom, and also give you the name of her father, thus confirming whether or not she is YOUR Harriet.

Thanks Sylvia

I may have to bite the bullet and get the certificate, I haven't done too bad she had six siblings and I have found all the births and marriages apart from one.

Sometimes the Census can be really really helpful and other times when they all disappear off of one census it is just so weird

Thanks again x

Just wondered if we could go back to my first question, have found the marriage for Amelia and have found all her children and their children, etc.

Still looking for any information regarding James Thomas Jardine (born 8th Nov 1808 St Katherine by the Tower - London) ie: marriage, not sure whether he did get married, just wondered if anyone would mind helping me have a look.

Thanks xx

Adding to my above post

Harriett born Rotherhithe.
Marriage in St Dunstan in the West.
St Dunstan and Rotherhithe are 1.4 miles apart.

You need to see the register entry for the marriage to see if any clues as to whether your James or not.

You should find it on Ancestry.

Select Marriages ad then select Pallots Index and you should find it.
