Can anyone on Genes Reunited come up with ANYTHING on this lady...........
BERTHA WALSH... (possibly Bertha Elizabeth Walsh).
Born Sept. 1892 in Coppell, Chorley, Lancs..
Daughter of Edward Walsh and Ellen Waine...
Brother of Bertha..... Walter, born 1891.
Brother of Bertha..... Edward. born 1897... All in Coppull,Chorley.
This lady could have been my mother but without any info on any of them after 1901 all I am doing is guessing. I've looked and searched, asked almost begged, but to no avail..
The men in the white coats are arriving next week as well !!!!!
many thanks..John

Many thanks Margaret. The thing is that after 1901 I have completely 'lost' Bertha.. Did she stay in Coppull, move away, etc...I've got her down as marrying my father in 1919, but as stated, it's only guess work.. I've searched for any possible death of this woman after 1901 to possibly 1914, just to see if it was the same Bertha. (Checking on this name, there were quite a few Bertha Walshs' in Chorley
area..This is coming out in a way that I must be confusing everyone who reads it..Cheers Margaret.

I really am grateful for the work you have put in. But this Bertha Walsh MUST be the one who married my father in 1919. (on her marriage certificate she didn;'t know her actual date of birth and put it down as 1895 (The same as my fathers). Her next of kin was Edward Walsh (deceased)..So you see the dilemma. No actual proof that this Bertha was the same as the one born in Chorley in 1893..

John Report 18 Apr 2008 20:54

Many thanks Claire, it really is appreciated. But what happened to Bertha after 1901. That's the problem. You see, she died back in 1950, and no one seemed to know much about her past. Marriage certificate in 1919. (Date of birth same as her husbands, next of kin - Edward Walsh, Deceased.)
And that is where it all ends.. Again Claire, many thanks... John

I dont understand "next of kin" on the marriage cert- did it not say "Fathers name and occupation"? Who were the witnesses? Where was the wedding and erm, who did she marry?

Hi Jane - All that is on the Marriage cert is - Name Bertha Elizabeth Walsh..On Death cert - Bertha Elizabeth Nunn. I know she was married in 1919.
the thing is Jane, I have nothing definte as to whether the Bertha Walsh born in Coppull is the same Bertha Elizabeth Walsh who married in 1919.
Her 'past' was rather scant and I didn't know much about her. (even less when I began the Fam Tree).
If I could find anything on the Bertha Walsh from Coppull from 1901, this could help to prove if these two women were the same, if that makes sense..
Anyway Jane, many thanks for all your kind work,
Regards.. John.

John Report 19 Apr 2008 11:31

Hi Rose, info on the marriage cert - 12 April 1919.
nok - Edward Walsh (deceased). Occupation Not Known.. Witnesses - William Crone and William Moore?... Bertha's past was not very well known, understand that she was a Nursery Maid at Kildale Hall in Yorkshire. Also understand, tho not certain that she may have been brought up in a 'Home'. Have checked with Kildale Hall but they have no records available.. I Have taken this Bertha from Coppull to be the same as the one on the marriage cert, but this is only guess work. And it's the word 'guess' which I am trying to get rid of.. Many thanks for all your kind work, and my sincere appologies for the delay in replying.. Regards, John.

John

John Report 19 Apr 2008 11:38

Hi Heather, appologies for the delay in replying - It was "Father's name and occupation" on the marriage cert, not next of kin.. Witnesses were, William Crone and Williame Moore.. Married at St.Johns Church, Shildon..Married John R. Nunn.
But as I cannot find for sure the Bertha Elizabeth Walsh on the cert was the Bertha born in Coppull in 1893, I am left with the 'guessing' word. I can't find anything on the Bertha born in Coppull after 1901. She led a very secretive life.. Many thanks for your very grateful work Heather.. regards, John.

John Report 19 Apr 2008 11:49

Hi Von, many thanks for your reply..Her age was on the marriage cert., as 24 (1919), which made the year 1895. Which was the same year as my father's, but no date or month on any letters etc., Which gives thought that she didn;t really know her own actual date of birth, so just took his. regards, John.
