I have been thinking about your family,do you think the marriage for Mary Ann is right? do you know her married name /if so then i think you might want to start with getting her marriage cert. it might shed some light as to where they could be in 1901 census. I am finding it puzzling that we cannot find them on any census!

Nicola

Nicola Report 23 Oct 2007 10:13

Hi, Mary-ann did marry Edward kelly my mum does have the marriage certificate for them thats how i know who her father is, im not sure how they know who mary-ann's mother is, all i know is that mary-ann was born in nottingham, ive just found out that they lived at 60 coalpit lane, and at some point moved to Leeds as that is where my great grandad was from and where my nan was born. hope this helps.

Have tried LOTS of ways to try and find them on a census but no luck.

Nicola

Nicola Report 23 Oct 2007 20:10

Hi Janice, just had a word with my dad and he said john charles hillyard died in Bradford, he also mentioned that when mary-ann's birth was registerd they spelt her name wrong on birth certificate as it was her mum who registered her and she couldnt write, so we have two different spellings hilliard and Hillyard would that make any difference.
Thanks
Nicola
