Not had any luck with that yet. It is only 1881 census that gives address that you can search ,so i am looking for it on the Enumerators page first in 1871(sometimes writing is hard to read!)

Nicola you might want to "search trees" on this site .I think there are people with Emma,s name
Gillian and Karen both have an Emma Place and Thomas Murden(the grandfather in early census) might find out what happened to her in 1881census etc

I could'nt find a birth cert for abt 1879 which if my maths is right that would have been his year of birth!
so a certificate might be the answer.

Nicola Report 26 Oct 2007 15:26

Ive just realised what you ment about john hillyard and the dates they dont add up at all

Nicola

Nicola Report 26 Oct 2007 15:21

Hi, the witnesses where friends their names were james Baines, and Eliza Robinson. The age for Johns is right it says on the card that he was 61 when he passed away I would imagine it was his wife who registered his death as she was the one that sent the card.
Thanks Nicola

jansmith Report 26 Oct 2007 14:22

well thats great to have the records already.
Have found the death index for John for your info . Just looking at the age ,it doe'nt tie in with the age of father does it? could it be a brother? or whoever registered the death was very wrong about his age.
John C Hillyard age 61 years Bradford
volume 9b
page 115
sept.quarter 1940
A cert. should give who registered it.
Who were the witnesses at the marriage ? were they family?
If you are wanting to do "the family" history you may want to think about getting some of the certs,to tell you more about them.
