Good evening, Robin, The bad penny turns up again! I only ever have problems. My grt grt grandfather Samuel Baxter married a lady called Mary Henson. Mary was born c.1824 and on every census her birthplace is given as Mansfield, Notts but guess what - I can't find that birth in Mansfield. On the marriage certificate of 1848 she married Samuel in the parish of North Wingfield, Derbyshire and residence was given as Pilsley. Her father was given as Thomas Henson but can't find his birth in Notts, either. Do you have any Derbyshire records which may shed light on this situation. (thought you may have tired of Notts weekend). Alternatively you may feel free to tell me to take a walk! Regards, Tricia P.S. One of the marriage witnesses was Elizabeth Henson - possibly Mum?

Hi Beverley Here is what I have so far. Notts Marriage Index A William Oliver married Elizabeth Marsden at Whatton 11.11.1839. I cannot trace any Christenings. Notts census 1841 Piece 854 Folio 9 Aslockton William Oliver, 50 Yrs ,Miller, Mary 50 yrs, William 25 Yrs Miller, Elizabeth 20 Yrs, Thomas 1. All are born in Notts As the are on the same Folio they are probably living adjacent as both Williams are marked as Head. I assume that they are working together as well. In Hawksworth Piece 853 Folio 4 There is one family spelt Marsdon William 60 AL, Elizabeth 53, Thomas 10, Harriett 8. These may connect with Elizabeth Oliver. There are references to Olivers in the Hawksworth area back to 1690 (If you get that far.!) I will do some more digging later.

Hi, could you please look for a Thomas and Beryl Taylor for me, believe they were in the Notts area c1895 and earlier.Thomas was an engineer, either roads or railway and they had eight children, the order is not known but their names were; Harold, William, Lawrence, Thomas, Hilda, Elsie, Hattie and Ellen. I know that none of their births were registered so I'm a bit stuck. Thanking you for your time. Sarah
