Hi Rachel, Thanks for the offer. I have my fathers army number, and i believe he was in the Kings Own Light Infantry Liverpool, i do know he served in Burma. His army number was 4458377. His name was Thomas George Povey b Sept 1920. Is it possible to find anything out about his army life? If not, do you know anywhere i can get info? Thanks for your time Regards Jean

Hello Rachel, can you see if you can find marriage record of John Dillon to Ann. in about 1818 i reckon, they had a daughter Phoebe b 1819 in Chelsea or Westminster area, On Phoebes wedding cert of 1837 in Hackney it says John Dillon's occupation was a soldier, so can you look and see if there's any military info on a John Dillon. On 1841 census Phoebe is married and her mother is living with her it shows her as being born in 1787 but there;s no sign of John. and it looks like Ann was born in Ireland, so perhaps John was too, and they may have married in Ireland. Hope you can make sense of this. Regards Michael

Hi Sue, RACKHAMS Can you message me an email address, there are 198 Rackham marriages, most of which are Suffolk or Norfolk, so have copied them all to a word Document for you along with the George in the Militia. Rachel

Hi simon, Sorry but not one of your Hall family have come up in the apprenticeship index. Is there anything else you want looking for - wills? Rachel.

Rachel

Rachel Report 10 Jun 2006 11:46

Hi Jean, re: Thomas George Povey The information you want isn't on Britishg origins, but with the amount of information you have have you can try the national archives website: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ if that fails a trip to the records office at Kew in London will probably yield results, it is where most of the army records are held. Rachel.

Hi Margaret, re: BEECHER. Your Alfred was not born in the dates available for the apprenticeship records. I am sorry that I did not make the dates available in my original post. I have now updated the original post and the dates available are up to 1850 for London apprenticeships 1710 - 1771 for Great Britian apprenticeships. There were other Beechers coming up in London about 9 but they were in the 1600's and 1700's. Kind regards, Rachel

Hi Rachel. Can you have a look for any reference to a marriage between Thomas Hunt & Mary Ferry between 1865 & 1880 please? They are both from Hampshire but apart from that I can't find anything about them.
