Hi Roz SA Death records- Surname: CORBETT Given Names: Martin Date: 1865-07-15 Sex: M Age: 28y Status: N Relative: (not recorded) Relative 2: Residence: Adelaide Death Place: Adelaide District Code: Ade Symbol: H Book: 18 Page: 199 Cross Reference: (H=died in hospital).Old Adelaide Hospital records usually have patients ship arrival into SA,date & name of ship, sometimes actual birth place & DOB. Also try contacting the State Library of SA .They have a free service called Ask a Librarian. If you know the death date, they will lookup in old newspapers for any obituary.(1857 maybe too early for these newspapers but doesnt hurt to ask). I have not found parents names on any passenger list unless they have been submitted by another researching the family or they too (parents) have come to Australia. Hope this is of some help. Kerri

Hi Genevieve Lots of Littles. Were the children of William & Isabella born in Ireland? What time frame did they come into Australia? Were they known to have lived in a certain State? Kerri

Genevieve

Genevieve Report 25 Jun 2007 08:01

Hi Kerrie, The whole family were born in Ireland, the children were all born in New Bliss, Co Monaghan, Ireland. The did settle in Victoria but I am not sure if they landed there or in South Australia first. William who was born in 1820 was married in Melbourne in May 1853 so it would have been between about 1848 and 1853. I hope that this narrows the search down for you. Thanks again for looking it up for me. Genevieve

Kerri, I am interested on the ship and arrival date of James and Harriet Ennis. If I have the right marriage record they married in St Austell Cornwall early in 1879 and their first child was born in Ovingham, Adelaide,SA late in the same year. David

Hi Kerri Thanks for your very kind offer. I am trying to find out if an Elizabeth Seaton who married Charles Tanner in Victoria in 1854 is my Great Grandmother's sister. She was born in Gawcott, Bucks in 1831 and I cannot find her on the 1851 census. Her mother died in 1847 so possibly she travelled to Oz after that. A lady from Oz contacted me to say that she was related to an Eliz Tanner nee Seaton who married Ch Tanner in 1854 and when I wrote back to ask how she knew this was the same Eliz she did not reply nor to several messages from me since then so now I am really curious to know if this is the same Elizabeth! Regards Ann

April Report 3 Jul 2007 11:22

Hi Kerri Could you have a look for the surname DUNS in S.A. for BDMs and the passenger list? Thomas Duns and his wife Helen Catherine Jerdan were in Scotland for the 1901 census. In 1914 (WW1) they were living in Goodwood, South Australia. They had two sons who were I think George Duns & James Watson Jerdan Duns. James died in WW2 Regards April
