George Hoare married Alice Ada Reading in Dec 1917, Holborn. The family have lots of doc's relating to everyone ( including Alice Ada Hoare death on the 6th Nov 1940 in St Pancras) But nothing about George? the only info I have found is the marriage to Alice which I know is correct. the family think he had a sister Nellie (who was grandmother to Barrett family) in Holborn/Islington.
I found a Thomas George Hoare born in Dec 1880, St Giles and a death for George Hoare in 1954 in Holborn aged 73 which seems to fit !!! Someone has researched before, so they have almost a complete tree apart from George Hoare ?? earliest record of him is the marriage in 1917. Had found George and Alice Ada Hoare together in Holborn on the 1939 register too. Need some help. Thanks

Does the marriage cert give his father's name, Nicola?

Who were the witnesses?

How old was he?

Without more to go on, it's a needle in a haystack.

Here are a couple of George Hoares of about Alice's age , judging by the various trees on Ancestry which contain her - though there are some wild and wonderfully varied "facts" in those (though maybe he was much older or younger, unless the marriage cert says differently).

These ones have sisters named Nellie / Ellen / Helen.

Only found the marriage entry on free BMD, before that the family did not even know the first name of Mr Hoare who married Alice Ada Reading...Their first child was called George born 1918, so almost certain the marriage of George and Alice in 1917 is correct. Will have to order marriage cert to get answers. No option left..
So frustrating when they have so much info on every other family member but not mysterious George Hoare!!!
Thanks for your help everyone

Thats a great help, I was thrown by the Surrey births of Thomas and Nelly mentioned in the last post but they where from St Lukes which is the right place. Also it could be any of the families found by Malyon!!!
I have been down this road of maybe so many times and learn't my lesson, so will order the marriage cert.
Thanks all for your help again.

Yes Alice Ada was born Hatswell and married Walter William Reading in 1906, Got all that side. Thanks to ArgyllGran for all the possible families too, who would have thought a Hoare would be so hard to find, I thought it wasn't a common name.

Nicola Report 7 Feb 2016 20:01

I was given the address of 6 Doughty Mews by the family. Apparently 13 in all, lived at this address including children from Alice's marriage to Reading. Alice died on the 6th Nov 1940 and was buried at Finchley Cemetery.
The Electoral registers above are 100% correct with all the children. Also the Burial of George Hoare in 1954 has to be right given the address.
So George was born in 1881 !! and most likely to be the Thomas George Hoare born in St Saviour Dec 1880. But can't confirm it without the marriage cert, will just have to wait for it to arrive.
Thanks all for your help.

Could someone please look up the 1911 census Bromley for Thomas George Hoare born 1881, need to know the other household members and relationship.

Nicola

Nicola Report 7 Feb 2016 20:38

Thinking this could be my Thomas GEORGE Hoare ?? He married Mary Ann E Victor in June 1906, Strand, they had another child Molly E Hoare born dec 1912, Bromley.
Knowing the relationship of this household would be a great help.

Do you all remember I was looking for (Nelly) sister of George Hoare??
Well I have found her Daughter, Eileen M Barrett born June 1935 along with other children, Winifred M Barrett born June 1931, Maureen J born June 1938, Victor J born March 1941, James M born March 1943 all in Holborn.
Still can't the parents, Mr Barrett and Nelly Hoare?.
I thought the above 1911 census details might be George with sister Nelly?? need to find that Barrett and Hoare Marriage.
