In the parish records it stats Wife Mary . Mary died in 1848 would that still be said or would it say widower ???

'During the early 19th century Hatch Court had many different occupiers. From 1838 to 1855 William Oakes owned it He was a churchwarden and there is a memorial to him in the west porch'

Lol Sylvia, you know us all too well!.

Just to add the Occupation of Daniel Woolhouse on the Marriage Cert. says Gentleman, (Find My Past have the actual images) think somewhere Sheila said she couldn't make it out...


Also, noted Executor to his Will was Henry Hardstaff (found in index to death duty registers 1796 - 1903 Find My Past)

and Henry Hardstaff appears to have been a very trusted employee ... he's on both the 1841 and 1851 censuses

In fact, he's Head and Landed Proprietor at Hatch Beauchamp in 1861 :-D
