Can anyone find this ladyy (on 1901 census with two sons as above) in the 1891 name possible surname is Brown/Berry

Thanks

Mary

Mary Report 1 Feb 2011 14:25

I have found William berry born 1837 Banbury Oxfordshire a boat man and his wife Jane in 1871 in Warwickshire .
They have 2 daughters Ann Berry born Bilston Staffs 1857 and Emily Berry 1861? Honiton Bedfordshire.

There are 2 people on here with William 1837 and Ann 1857.

Could you write to them Paula and ask if they now anything about William around the time he is with Eliza A Berry/Brown.

Mary not sure if this is the correct William as in the 1901 census his age if 62 giving a birth date of 1840 but will try anyway, as the years I know are not always accurate

Thanks

PS Have sent an email to both three people with the Berry name and area in the trees on this Site.

OK Paula,I think it is the same William 1837 as on 1911 and from Banbury and a boat man.

Hope they can give you some info.Unless they lost track of him.
I think it must be Ann they are linked to as they don't have Emily.

Eliza Berry married a William Brown found hem in the 1881 \NOT the 1871 census it would appear that they had two girls Ada and Eliza - no match found for a Brown/Watson on freebmd

Eliza Brown's maidenname was Downton and her father was in the Navy.

Still waiting for a birth cert for Arthur Watson BUT am not hopeful of a correct match.

Thanks all

Received the birth cert for Arthur Adams Watson as above NO MATCH

There is no fathers name or occupation. So it looks as if I am back to the drawing board.

Thanks

Paula, If the Arthur that was a "Nurse Child" is your Arthur, then it is not surprising that there is no father's name on the birth certificate. As Jonesey has said, often illegitimate people made up a father's name for appearances.

What was the mother's name on the certificate and the address please? Have you found that Arthur on census records?

Hi thanks for replying.

I had not checked the 1901 for Julia Watson (mother on cert) as I have no credits left.

Julia Watson 27 London Woolwich Essex East Ham

Assuming this is a possible as the others on the 1901 are a little too old and also appears to be correct area. The address was 276 Canon Hall Road, Canon Hall London West Ham district. OR POSSIBLY CANN HALL ROAD not very clear

I fully understand the comments about a "made up name" but my way of thinking is that Edward appears to be a family name. i.e. First son of Arthur is named Ernest Edward and second son Arthur - if I am assuming they are using the usual manner of naming children??

The other thing is that this cert says Arthur Adams (is Adams the middle name?) or the surname. I think this is a middle name in which case seems even more unlikley to be connected.

I am really at a loss as to where to go from here. Can't go forwards or backwards and stuck in the time warp. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Paula
