So John was born between 24th Feb 1910 and 23rd Feb 1911, which means that the Dec qtr 1911 birth isn't his, unless the age he declared was not accurate.

A 'deceased' father could have been made up....................

Who witnessed the marriage?

Katie

Katie Report 14 Jan 2011 22:45

If John's age is correct on the marriage cert he must have been born by Feb 1911.

If the earlier birth is correct then this is the parents' marriage

Sorry for the delay.

27 Henry Street is occupied by a family called Scott, another family called Maisey, another called Farrell and a family called Watson.

31 Wear Street has a family called Ford, another called Fowler, another called Lamb and a family called Bell.

Unfortunately no Fishers.

Not sure whether or not this is relevant but I was going through the other numbers in Wear Street in case the Usher family had moved about in the same street (some of my lot did this regularly) and I came across a Fisher family so thought I would give you the details - although I don't think the John there can be the one you are looking for as he is too young:-

Isn't that the 1911 that was posted before?

Flick

Flick Report 14 Jan 2011 23:18

Can we get one thing sorted out?

Are we all searching for Fisher/Thompson based purely on the Dec 1911 birth reg'n which is probably not even the right JOHN FISHER?

Is there one other shred of evidence to support the idea that John's mother's maiden name was Thompson?

Flick

Flick Report 14 Jan 2011 23:22

This birth looks a better bet.....................IF the age at marriage is accurate

Sorry Flick - this 1911 census has been posted before. I was just concentrating on the address rather than the family. Sorry.

I agree Flick, he would have known his age at marriage but the person reporting his death might have easily got it wrong.

Kath............

No probs...........I was just verifying.............rhetorical question, really
,
The child John in that record in 8 months old

Katie..........

As his wife outlived him, one would assume that she registered his death, or, at the very least, gave the info to the person who did.

Flick,
I often get my age slightly wrong now! If asked my husbands age I have to work it out, a mistake one year either way is easy to make!

Just to add husbands death to verify why she was in Hertfordshire

Christine

Look at my first posting on this page..........and check the maths.

BUT..........that assumes he told the truth about his age when he married - he may have added a year to avoid appearing younger than his wife

The Dec 1911 birth doesn't appear to tie in with a father named JOHN, but the only way to find out is to get the cert

Flick

Flick Report 15 Jan 2011 09:51

This may be totally irrelevant, but there is ONE marriage of John Fisher to Thompson in Sunderland.........

I think Catherine is his sister that is her birth as it matches her death record

Of course I could be wrong, but looks very likely
