hi i think iv,e asked this before but i,m still stuck i,m looking for a mary russell b approx 1864 i chapel chair wingate co durham in the 1911 census she hasbeen married to jonathan reaper for 23 years but i can,t find a marriage for her

i thought about the possibility of him not being married to mary as i also found the marriage to margaret lewinsbut i,m trying to trace mary,s family as i have all the reapers but i can,t find her anywhere

Just wondering if Mary was also married before she met Jonathan !!!

hi vera i,m not sure if mary was married before the only info i have is on my grandas birth certificate it says mother mary reaper formerly russell

Have had a look on familysearch too. Can see son Richard's baptism but no marriage. And too many Mary Russell's to pin her birth down I think.

Is this Margaret Lewins {Lawson}?? from the 1885 marriage names with Jonathan Reaper???

EDIT..Only just read your post that you have Jonathans marriage cert. to Margaret Lewins!!!....I thought you were trying to sort out wether it was the correct marriage or not, as so did others I suspect...

I think you need to get oldest sons birth cert to confirm mothers maiden name...

So whats the fathers name of Margaret Lewins on the marriage cert.

Who were the witnesses? and what was Margarets age? it may help to trace this elusive Mary/Margaret prior to her marriage to Johnathan..

It looks like Margarets father Thomas died 1864 ??? he was a coal miner....she was only little when he died.........her brother was Joseph and he was also a coal miner........maybe she didn't really know the proper details and guessed !!!!
