Hi Janice

there are other children born in the same area as David Hawkes with mothers maiden name Freeman. How did you come to the conclusion David was a relation? was he on the ER to?

havnt been on here much but glad to see progress :)

Delboy1978 Report 2 Aug 2009 11:18

sorry misread. he was on ER

anyway, if he and lina where siblings then he would remember an adoption: and should/hopefully be alive!

Have you thought about obtaining Cyril's death cert to see who the informants where??

could this be a scenario to consider? that Linda was a daughter in law or having a relationship with David who was much older and they had a child?? and when to register the birth used Hawkes instead of her own name? .....just a thought as we can not find her birth rec under the name Hawkes

My brother (who was adopted at birth) had tried all avenues - he found us with a classifieds advert in the local press! He worded it "Looking for (mothers name and date of birth) or her children who were living in (area) in the year of his birth." A great aunt of ours read it, rang me, I contacted him which set everything going, he lives in the USA by the way. That was 9 years ago!

Wishing you good luck in your search.

Hello Derek

Yes, all of your thoughts have been thought and other's also.
Your thoughts about daughter-in-law too and checked out.
David on ER and David still alive and located, and positive moves located for Linda.
Samantha now can contact both and hopefully should resolve all questions that Samantha has?

i think i have located my BM thatnks to the help of you all, especially Janice and sheila.just waiting her marriage cert and fathers death cert.i have drafted her a letter saying who i am and where she can contact me.she only lives a few miles from where i work and never lived more than half and hour from me all my life.anyway i will let you know whatever the outcome.for all other adoptees out there looking.please remember it is one of the hardest things for a mother to give up a child and there is normally a very very good reason,i feel very lucky to have been given the chance to have a better life.Linda will never be my mother she was just the lady who made it possible for my mum and dad to be loving, caring and wonderful parents.good luck to you all.

Hi Sam
So Linda is daughter of Cyril after all, well at least that is what the marriage certificate states.
Maybe Linda is there in the births but mistranscribed, name spelt differently!
This happens! It happened with my NIECES marriage CERTIFICATE her surname was spelt completley different.
Good Luck Anyway
Love Janice

Hiya Sam

So lovely to hear that your search has been a success xxx

Linda is the only person who can apply for her adoption records, but anyone can send off for her original birth cert. as it's over the 50 year ruling. This would give you her birth parent(s) names and therefore something to work with while waiting for her adoption records.

Good luck for the future.

I am not sure if it helps but if you contact the local adoption service in the area they should have the right paperwork and your file. Please do not assume that your birth name was Samantha until you have all of the information. My grandmother was adopted at several days old and named Rosemary, her birth was registered as Shelagh. If i can be of any help please let me know.
