thankyou janeycanuck your extra info has helped i will check on that site, i have ordered a birth cert, so at least i will know, the reason why i nudged is because i got a match this evening who i pm and i told her to go on to trying to find board as gr members have given me information, and i said some of it might help her, as she to is searching the hornibrook name, i just wanted to bring it to the top of the page so she could see it, i was also given an e.mail address which i hope to get a reply from, but thanks everyone who has helped me,im a beginner at all this internet stuff, probably shows. but thanks to patient people like yourself, i will get better.

One tip, Dawn -- for the person who contacted you here at GR, copy this into a message to her:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1132676

She will have to copy and paste it into her address bar, and then it will take her directly here, instead of hoping the thread is still up top when she looks for it.

Good luck with the match!

Oops, I forgot to finish my thought on the previous page.

I checked at the National Archives for a divorce -- but there isn't one in those records. Those records are not complete.

thank you deborah just noticed your edit about stephen hornibrook marriage in 1956 have sent off for that cert to it says he married a doyle in chelsea i know at one time he lived in chelsea so this could be very promising. maybe need to look up doyle now. thanks again

Dawn Report 1 Jun 2009 02:28

this is an update on stephen hornibrook, it seems my mother did not give me correct info regarding america, i have checked out john stephen born 1927 does not match, i have got a marriage cert for stephen hornibrook in aug 1956, who married anne doyle, it states his previous marriage was dissolved, so all fits, so i now know he did not go back to america in 1956 as was told, as he is listed as living in chelsea, yet i can still find no more info on him. can anyone help me with this extra bit of info or where to search now,

JaneyCanuck Report 1 Jun 2009 02:36

I did a search of the births index but there are no births with surname Hornibrook and mother Doyle. I'm a little uncomfortable with this personal info about living people, so maybe if your search bears fruit it can be deleted -- but does the marriage certificate state that Ms Doyle was a "spinster"? If she had been previously married, any births to them would show her birth surname rather than the name she married under.

Dawn

Dawn Report 1 Jun 2009 02:45

hi janey it states that anne doyle was a spinster and that she was 28 yrs old his name is down as stephen, father james which matches what i know but still no birth cert maybe he was not born here also reading back my notes, deborah said there was a marriage for stephen hornibrook in 1964 hammersmith, maybe if its him he got married again, and thats why there are no children for hornibrook doyle

Dawn Report 3 Jun 2009 00:47

thank you deborah for your pm, at least i know now it was not him who married in 64, this man is turning out to be a mystery, as you said you can find no chidren to hornibrook / doyle either, can any one help solve this, i can think of no where else to check, maybe he was born either ireland or america. where do i go now.

Dawn
if Stephen is your father & your Mum married him in 1949

You were born in 1956
How can your parents be divorced for Stephen to remarry in 1956
the same year as your birth ?

STRANGE Your parents must have started divorce proceedings BEFORE you were born ?

Sorry to be personal

& I will delete if you want <<<<<<<<<<<<<

Dawn Report 10 Jun 2009 01:49

sorry fairthorne i have not explained fully, stephen hornibrook married my mother in 1949 but he was not my father, i was always told he was merican and that he went back to america 1956, but i now know that not to be right, after a marriage for him in 1956, i also have a birth cert with his name, all very confusing, thats why i am trying to find information about him but seem to draw a blank. sorry again for confusion.
