I have to admit I gave up. ;)

... and wandered off to play with the descendancy of William Wells Brown ... about which I am highly sceptical ...

But the lesson here is: when you're down to your last gasp for help, come bang on Dee's and my heads. We make quite a team, no? ;)

And regardless of where Sarah Emily was in 1891, we do know *who* she was now.

I can't believe the guessing worked! Thank you so much. I received the birth certificate of the Sarah Emily Barritt born Burnley in 1873 today. The parents listed are Michael Barritt, a plasterer, and Cecelia Barritt formerly Eaton. Sarah was born 23rd April 1873.

I have also received the marriage certificate of Michael and Cecelia, although it does look like it says Cellerie/Celleric as it's transcribed on freebmd. They married on 24th September 1870, he was 23 and a plasterer, she was 22 and a heeler. His father was Tom Barrett, a labourer and hers was Jonas?!? Eaton, a basket maker. Both addresses at time of marriage says Keighley Green.

Hopefully I can now prove that the rest of the info is correct.

Thanks again
Jen

Annie Annie Annie. Our "Jonas" Eaton was the father of someone who married in 1873 -- Celia Eaton who married Thomas Barritt. Hm, are you thinking they may have had a son Jonas Barrett before marrying? There doesn't seem to be any match there ...

The main problem being that our "Jonas" Eaton was really Amos Eaton! If I'm recalling correctly. ;)

So Jen, we dunnit! 'Tweren't no guessing. Sheer collective brilliance, that's what 'twere.

Let us know if you find Sarah in, what was it, 1891?

;P

Back to 1911 - I searched for George Marsh born in Australia, no other criteria, and got one:

MARSH GEORGE HENRY 1854 57 West Derby Lancashire

Older than your info, which I think was 1864.

I can't tell who's in the household with him.

But aha, he shows up on a search for Marsh with Barett in the household. So do the search in reverse -- Barrett with Marsh in the household ... suspense ...

BARRETT GRACE GERTRUDE 1904 7 West Derby Lancashire
BARRETT HILDA EVELYN 1907 4 West Derby Lancashire

but no Sarah.

Searching for a Sarah in West Derby with George Henry Marsh in the household, there ain't one.

There's this Sarah Marsh:

MARSH SARAH F 1875 36 West Derby Lancashire

but no Barrett in the household, and no recognizable Marsh.

I'd pay for a peak at the George Henry Marsh household, I think!

Hmm, she's the only person in that household? It's possible, even though they didn't marry until 1913; she could have been calling herself married. George and the daughters are somewhere else ... is either George or Sarah recorded as a visitor on census night? Can you tell whether there was anyone else in the household she was in?

And the 1911 census was supposed to reveal all!
