Julia I am trying to find out when James Adderley arrived in England from Ireland. He was born in 1840 in Ireland and is on the 1871 English Census. I believe he was from Belfast so he could have left from there for Liverpool, that,s all I can tell you.

Hi Julia
Looking for arrival details of my Great Grandfather James O'Hara born 1858 in Belfast
I have a Glasgow poorlaw record which states that James O'Hara was at sea for a year around 1878 before returning to Glasgow
James O'Hara B1858 may have travelled with his brother John O'Hara B1855
I know these two men were in Glasgow in during the 1881 census

Thanks for finding Miss Plested, she was the one I was looking for. Please could I ask for another lookup?

The names are Thomas Willis, Mrs Thomas Willis or Mrs Emma Willis between 1882 and 1907,

Thanks again

Emma was born in 1847 but usually lied about her age, making herself younger as she married a youngef man no doubt. Thomas gives his dob about 1856 at their marriage..

Hi

I wondered if you might be able to help me too.....
Im looking for records of my grandparents who came to England in 1945/1946. They were in a concentration camp in Germany and i believe they came over in a boat and arrived in Southampton although i might be wrong about that.

Their names were Walter Lepak (19.6.1925) and Maria Lepak Kowaleczen (sp.) (22.6.1920) My nana may have lied about her date of birth to make herself younger.....it was a rumour but not one that we ever had confirmed. Both of them were born in the Ukraine.

Many Thanks for any help you can give me

Lisa

Hi Julia,
I know you have said that there are very few European listings, however, could you look for a Gladys Smith (my Grandmother) , travelling with James Robert Smith, (My Father), from Germany to the UK, 1937/1938.

I never knew my GrandMother and my Father died in 1971, when I was 4 yrs.

A long shot I know :-)

Thanks

Hilary

Hello Jacki, it's been a couple of years since Julia last replied to a post on here.

Why not start a new thread of your own asking for help - just use the "Add Topic" button on the first page of the Find Ancestors board. Don't forget to give as much info as possible about him, like when and where he was born. Details of his family including spouse if married and children. His occupation would help and details of the last census you have him on.

There are quite a few of us have access to incoming and outgoing shipping records, plus worldwide records so someone should be able to help you.

Jacki - I'd refer you again to my post above yours. Seems like one post has been dleted in the interim.

Hi Julia, This is probably like looking for a needle in a haystack. Bridget Sullivan born 1847 we have no idea where abouts in Ireland , left Ireland in the early 1860's and arrived in Port Chalmers or Dunedin Otago New Zealand around 1863 -1864 she may have been with a Mary Moran or another Sullivan. Many thanks.
