Susan Report 9 Sep 2008 16:51

My G.G Elizabeth Clarke's death was registered in Nottingham 8th Jan 1900 by her sister, Martha Keetley.
But I have no record of a Martha.
Plenty of Hartshorn (MN) siblings but not a Martha.

G.G.'s family was from Arnold in Nottingham. Her husband was Frederick Clarke and she was born in 1863.

Can anyone help me find out who this Martha is and whether my g.g actually did have a sister called Martha and I have missed her somehow ?

Thank you
Sue

Could Martha Keetley have been the sister of her husband, and married to a Keetley?

Susan

Susan Report 9 Sep 2008 17:46

So she would be her sister in law ?

But although hubby's mother and their daughter was called Martha, as far as I know he didn't have a sister with that name.

Possible for Martha Keetley?

Will try tracing her back to see if we can find a link.

Susan

Susan Report 9 Sep 2008 18:21

Thanks chrisa

I thought the Isaac Keetley marriage was her until the mn turned up to be Bland. I have no known connection to that name. MN would have been Hartshorn.

Addy for Martha at time she registered death of my g.g. was 2 Fir place, Sherwood Street, Nottm

Susan

Susan Report 9 Sep 2008 18:35

Thanks Sam............thats what I thought....no girls.

That's deffo the family in 1891 census chrisa. As you see they had a daughter Martha but she would have only been about 10 when her mother died.

So sister Martha remains a mystery !!

Samspade

Samspade Report 9 Sep 2008 18:36

This is very strange, there's no mention of any Martha's (with either surname) are you sure she wasn't a nun? hehehehehe

Samspade

Samspade Report 9 Sep 2008 18:38

also looked for a Hartshorn marrying a Martha but still nothing sorry

Susan

Susan Report 9 Sep 2008 18:39

Possibly Sam..................or maybe a nursing sister ?
Doubt they had them in those days.

she died at home of enteric fever at age 37, leaving very young children
