Well Wiltshires a nice place to visit (but then i do live there**)

Carole, We know his marriage cert details but so far they have been of no help at all.
Date 3 july 1897
Father Charles, a collier, living in 22 Harper St Cardiff.
Thomas 27 born 1870.


As so many of the family come from Wiltshire it would be silly not to have a holiday there and connect up as many people and places as we can,
This years holiday fully booked with sons new baby due and of course a honeymoon, but I will try to put it on the calendar for next year.


Arthur, better known as George, has given me a lot of dates and names for Elizas family which I have added


Managed to get some more of the garden dug today, so bath and get ready for work tomorrow, who knows what it might bring

Ladies, if you are still there, an update,
George, has been so helpful.
He has managed to find Thomas, it seems that he was living with his grandparents when he was born.
He had nine brothers and sisters.
George has also been able to go back another four generations.
I think that now Thomas is reunited with all of his family he may stay found this time.
I have visited the church where Eliza was baptised and the one where she is buried.
I have seen Thomas brother William's grave.
All I need to do now is to meet up with her great grandson, George

I think we have him now.
I will definatly be coming to Wiltshire as both sides of the family come from there I think I must be related to most of Wiltshire.

I have just found this thread and have been most interested in the development of your research of the Webb/Rogers. I have to admit that I have nothing to add that will further your family tree, but I haven't before found anyone on this site who has ties to Welsh Newton. So I have read and re-read to see if there could be any connection with "my" Webbs, but none that I can see. My G Grandmother was Lucy Webb and was born in Bledington in Gloucestershire. She married George Fryer and they lived in Monmouth. One of their grandsons, Alfred Fryer, was my father and I was born on Welsh Newton Common. Dad is buried in Welsh Newton churchyard and we made the long trip from Australia to place mum's ashes in his grave three years ago. Gave me goosepimples to read that you had visited there. During that visit I learned from relatives that there is a connection with the Rogers who lived in the area. I can't remember now how that connection came about but it was a Tunnicliffe relation who told me about it. the only Rogers I can remember was Florrie, she was the postlady and lived on Welsh Newton Common.
Sorry for the hijack but I have found it very interesting with your Webb and Rogers connections at Welsh Newton.

Aunty Flo was Elizas daughter, after she married George Rogers.
My sister often went to stay with Aunty Flo.

Do you think you might have a connection to Carole, as she has different Webbs to me.

I am on a new track now,
there has always been a story in the family that a member of the family won caps playing rugby for Wales.
I was looking at a site for Abertillary and found a bit about Jim Webb, Rugby player.
His full name is Alfred James Webb
Date of birth 1st July 1878
Place of birth, Coleford, Gloucester
Now Thomas had a brother called Alfred and they were born about the same time.
I am now trying to find out it they are the same person.
If so that would make him Aunty Flos uncle.

I think it would make a lovely end to Thomas story if it was so.
