It may or may not be useful to add to your notes. This is a bit earlier.

My ancestral uncle Thomas Culliford of Wiveliscombe 1785-1846 was widowed then married a widow called Martha Besley. She was born about 1790.
I'm not sure if she had children but she must have been married first to one of your relations.
Without going and hunting through my notes I am pretty sure she owned a farm called Chorleys.

The thomas besley we were looking for i have found out his birth was in 1904 march in Taunton so that may mean some of my tree is out of sync.
Still cant find parents!!

Sylvia

Sylvia Report 3 Apr 2008 22:16

so looking at it it might be that thomas married elizabeth vernacombe...

jansmith

jansmith Report 3 Apr 2008 23:05

so if you are now sure its this 1904
Name: Thomas Besley
Year of Registration: 1904
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Taunton (1837-1974)
County: Devon, Somerset
Volume: 5c
Page: 287
A cert. will give parents names so i think that you may want to get it . Also if you are sure of Thomas/Lillian then their marriage cert would be helpful to have. If you do get any then post details on here and we can help again
