I think of my mind as a part of my body and if my pancreas doesn't work I will take insulin.

That is how I got myself to take the ADs.

They worked and three years later - and a lot of hard work - I slowly came of them.

Part of the shame I felt was that I could not see any reason for having the depression. My life is brilliant and I am happier than I have ever been and I am incredibly lucky.

But the illness still came.

It is terribly hard to fight but I know that often I came on these boards and the chit chat and support were amazing. No one knew what was happening particularly but I remember the pirate ship and desert island threads!

They were brilliant!

Just a few friendly words can have such a lot of healing power!

Thank you all and I hope I can give support whenever needed!

Hi Awdrey and Viv, thanks for your posts,

Mandy, I know just what you mean, 'people say you are strong under pressure but you worry if you will crack,

I strangely cope better when there is pressure and feel worse when things are calm, although this is usually short lived lol!

Ta Puss, love,

I decided not so long ago that I wasn't going to keep quiet about depression and anxiety any more, why should I be ashamed of an illness? It's mostly connected to the ME but sometimes I get separate occurrences.

My GP said the same as Awdrey's! I said I was so frightened of losing my marbles and he said that I wouldn't realise if I was.

I'm also probably more fortunate than a lot of sufferers because I get frequent, short spells rather than one long one.

I'm actually quite scared at the moment because of everything that has happened in our family this last year. Everyone says that they don't know how I've coped, but I'm afraid that now things are finally looking up, I'm going to crack under the strain.

Have PM'd Caz last week.

I can empathise with everyone - especially Susie M. Our OHs keep us sane.

Unless you have 'been there' no-one can understand how you feel and how damned impossible it is to explain the feeling.

I went as far as going to Social Services office, sat in middle of the floor and (I am told) screamed my head off and said ' For God's sake - someone help me'.

Sometimes, I just want it to be dark and quiet!!
I hate this.
