Got to know this girl off another fourm I go on. She's quite shy and doesn't have many friends. For the past 5 Fridays I've been taking her the pub and staying for a few hours. It's not always just her but she's always been there whether we have 3rd of 4th person with us or not. I really only invited her out as she was saying she's on her own a fair bit and doesn't socailise much, sympathy on my part if I'm being honest. She is a nice person and I wouldn't keep taking her out if I didn't like her as a mate, but do reckon me getting into this Friday night routine will make her think I'm interested in something more? I've had to shun my old mates for a bit so I could spend time with her, but do need to catch up with the lads; it's been a month since I seen them. Like I say I only wanted to get her out and socialise, that's all. |

Just ask her if she minds if you give it a miss this Friday. Make it Saturday instead, or just arrange to miss one Friday. Then cut back to every other week. You need to be honest with her though. |

We do the jokey flirty stuff everyone does (I even do it with my male friends) but sometimes I think she is being serious and as much as I would like to have a girlfriend again, I know i'm not really interested and don't want to lead her on with me still being on the look out. Hmm. |

Sorry Dan but Jeanette has a good point about biting the bullet and making sure this young lady knows where she stands. What's the worst that can happen? you upset her and she doesn't speek to you for a few weeks? You may find out that she feels the same as you do - so no harm done. What ever you do, you need to do it sooner rather than later, as the longer you leave it the harder and messier it will become. Good luck, Lunar x x |

Very noble and very kind Dan. The kind thing to do now, as others have said, is to make sure that she knows where you stand in all this so that she isn't 'led up the garden path' as it were. More kindness with a large dollop of tact is called for, don't you think? |
