I married my lovely husband 10 years ago and we're as strong as ever and as happy as ever. We have our ups and downs like normal couples but we wouldn't be without each other. We met through the Internet and people said we wouldn't last, but we've proved them wrong. Here's some of my SERIOUS & FUN tips for a happy marriage: * you need to tolerate each other * respect each other * respect each others individual needs. * make decisions together (although if we cannot agree, I make the final decision) * tell each other 'I love you' every day (I also say this to myself too) * don't let your hubby catch you using his electric tooth brush to clean the loo with, this may cause a barney * I wouldn't say I wear the trousers in my house, I just say what colour * never let the sun go down on an argument * be tolerant with each others hobbies (my husband goes Carp fishing and there's nothing more boring than that.....but I tolerate it because I respect that that's what he enjoys * don't be too proud to apologise, even if you know you are in the wrong * make time to spend an evening together having a nice meal and a drink * more importantly TRUST each other * & laugh together *don't argue over money, having your health and each other is what matters!! Hiya Tara, Me and OH have been married for 43 years and we still hold hands walking down the street, if we ever let go we would probably kill each other, lolol. Seriously love, I think that you have to respect each others wishes and a little bit of give and take either way doesn't go amiss. My wife and I may have disagreements but we never have rows, I know this may sound boring but we have been together now for 46 six years. So we must be doing something right. All the very best to you and OH. Jeff xx |

Say I love you every day, because one day you may not be able to say it. Always be best friends and respect and trust each other. After friendship and respect and trust the rest should fall into place. If each of you puts the other one first instead of being selfish you won't go far wrong. My dad gave my husband and I the following advice on our wedding day. Imagine you are two carthorses pulling a heavy load. In order to get anywhere you must both pull in the same direction. Once you pull in opposite directions the load will tip over and be lost. (The load being the marriage). Many congratulations to you both, and I hope you have a very long and happy future together. Dianne xx |

I think i have one of the best.Been married 36 years this year.Been with him since we were both 17 and got married at 18.I have just been very ill the last 2 weeks and had to take to my bed.On so many tablets i rattle. He has taken time off from work and done everything.Even the tumble drier that he would never touch.I can only say we do argue but at the end of the day we are there for each other. Thankyou everyone for the congrat's :-) Awww Joy, that certainly is love. My finacee & I have been togeather for 4 years at present & shared some difficult times outside of our control and relationship, but we have supported one another when it gets to much for either of us. My OH is similar Joy, sometimes he won't say much on a particular subject but has said that it doesn't mean his not listening or there for me, just that he needed to take a back seat (with his opinions) until he knew I needed him. We do argue too, not lots but I think that in a good healthy relationship there will be argument's occasionally especially in the beginning as you are getting to know one another. People that say they never argue or disagree boggles me, coz I know people that have had long marriages, I mean 25+ years, and they have had arguments throughout there marriages and some off them breaking points but have worked out their differences, compromised you know, and had more years of happiness togeather. Can people be that 'perfectly' suited that they 'never' argue???? |
