Just seen this Steve. Glad your son is on the mend and hope that something is sorted out about the D & D. You did what any parent would have done so don't beat your self up about it. Just hard luck you had to bump into the police perhaps an hour or two later and all would have been fine. Good Luck luv Germaine x

Steve you did the right thing, imagine how you would feel today if you had waited too long for an ambulance, and the worst happened. My mum died aged 57 of an asthma attack, just minutes before my dad got in from work, she was still alive just, my dad called a nurse living next door and she gave cpr, but she was dead when the ambulance arrived. Now you have a problem to sort out, but what the hell....thank god your little one is ok. I think you acted responsibly and promptly under the circumstances, dont't beat your self up over it. good on you Joy

Hi Steve, I just want to agree that you acted like any true parent would have so worry about the legal stuff now you know your son is on the mend - a friend of mine had a sister who died of an asthma attack. On the subject of drink driving, some other friends had a boozy, romantic night at home then were phoned by the police to say their son had been attacked and could they come. So they leapt on their bikes and pedalled into town!! Fortunately they weren't done for being drunk in charge of a bike and their son is fine. I often think about that as I live 6 miles out of town.

Steve.... your not a drink driver..you did something you at to do..you had no choice..your priority was getting your son to the hospital...if you had'nt of done your son may of become much worse..and much more difficult to treat. Izzy gives some really good advise...a peak flow moniter became my daughters best friend..and as he also say's you have to take a look around your home..to see what may of triggered it off. My daughter had the works asthma,excema,and hay fever...her illness really did take over my life...but as she got older she still has it mild but nothing compared to what it use to be...but that does'nt mean that it will stay that way forever...it may come back again as they say it can go for a couple of years but come back ...cross my fingers and hope not. Hope your son makes a full recovery. I suggest you get some legal advice, the court have the power to take into account exenuating circumstances where a life may be in danger. You say he was going blue, so it WAS a genuine emergency.

Hope that your son is ok Steve and hope the law will be sympathetic with you. That's one lesson you and your son have learned though. My son use to have sport induced asthma, now and again, and we used to have an inhaler in every pocket! Thankfully he has grown out of it now and is a professional sportsman.

Steve, Glad your son is improving, the increased heart rate is most probably a result of the medication he's been given, as a life long asthmatic i speak through experience, it is an irreversible condition, your son may have periods of good health BUT he must always keep a check on his peak flow, he can get a small monitor from his doctor and a daily check of his lung capacity will give him an early indication of any potential breathing difficulties. Check on any new air freshners you have in the home, i know some i've had in the past have triggered off my asthma very severly very quickly.Wishing him a speedy recovery. As for your misdemeanor, the police are only doing their job, and as others say considering your mitigating circumstances i'm sure things will be fine. xxIzzy

Oh wot a mess ....all coz you did what any GOOD parent would do...wish my x-hubby had been as good as you when it came to our sons asthma. My sons like yours has had few attacks in the past years but I remember that I was told Once an asthmatic always an asthmatic. This has made my son( now 14) be more aware that he must have an inhaler. And as for the police Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr why dont they go.....for such a small amount over you would have thought....no best not to think. That care of you and your son at this time.
