Morning Gill and all,
We have rain and dull skies and wind need I say more a right miserable dreary wet day and oh said there was a Jackdaw in the run this morning and then it went frantic trying to get out. He dos'nt think it will be back.
What with going to get the fish and chips last night and the way the nights are drawing in I left the food in there last night which is why I think the bird went in there.
After seeing the new girls close up yesterday while we did the netting oh told me he thought they were lovely birds and said if the man still has the other two he would buy those for me too. It tried ringing yesterday three time to no avail only an answering phone on and I am not leaving a message. I hate having to talk into those things. Silly really as I was once a telephonist.
I'll have another go today.

Morning all, Not good as it's miserable like yours Mel/Gill. It has been raining, but everywhere is so DARK, and that wind is getting up. So it's the armchair and book today.
That was nice of OH Mel, What's he after ?? He is a bit like me, I tend to buy things for Ros on the spur of the moment. A couple of weeks ago I bought her a WHITE GOLD BRACELET. and without thinking bought another two days later. So the lucky girl has TWO.
Good that you did your planters without any real cost Gill. Wood can be so expensive, so I tend to keep any bits either in the garage or behind the shed. I have all the wood from when I had the chickens. What I will use that for I don't know.
I was still awake when Ros came back from the Choir. I think I soon dropped off after knowing she was home, and everywhere was locked up.I feel a lot better this morning, and didn't wake until 7.00 am. Went to the loo, and back into bed till 8.30.
Have book lunch for Sunday at the Carvery, so no cooking for me. it will make a nice change.
Eos came home last night with a BAG of golden plumbs and WET WALNUTS. she won't eat them when they dry out. STRANGE WOMAN. lol lol
Take care all, see you later.

I hope you manage to get through to the man today Mel. I'm like you and not to keen on talking to answer machines. That was nice of your OH to offer to buy them for you. I think your OH is right and the Jackdaw won't be back anytime soon if he frightened himself getting stuck last night. The rain seems to have stopped for now, but there are lots of clouds around so I imagine we'll be in for more rain before the day's out, so I'm staying in doors today in the warmth.
I see you had a better nights sleep last night Frank, I bet you feel better for it today. You sound like us keeping hold of wood, but like you say it's very expensive and the wood we used was brand new last year so apart from where it was damaged slightly with next door's works, it was perfectly fine to re-use. When OH went to buy the screws they had doubled in price with Brexit. They said they couldn't get hold of a lot of things and the items they could get hold of had gone up in price which is why their prices have gone up to the public. I told OH you had wood and didn't know what to do with it. He said he'll be there this afternoon to pick it all up as he's running short now lol :-D :-D ;-) ;-)
Ros is very lucky with you buying things for her, my OH wouldn't think of doing anything like that for me. I on the other hand do it all the time for him and Sandra. I do go out with the intentions of buying myself things but I always end up finding things for them, then come home with nothing for me. I really need a new pair of shoes, mine have holes in them and the only other footwear I have are heels which aren't comfortable to walk around in, so I'll have to be strong and stick to buying some shoes for myself, otherwise I'm going to have very wet feet throughout the winter, every time I go out.
I've just finished all the washing, although there was nothing of mine to do just Sandra's and OH's, but at least it's out of the way. I decided to put it all on the radiators with them being on anyway, there's no need to waste money turning the dryer on when there's no point, there wasn't much, so it shouldn't take to long to dry.
I'm going to take another look at OH's tree again today now the man who was helping me is back. He was away for a month, so now he's helping me again it should be a bit quicker. With a bit of luck OH's tree should be finished soon, then I can go back to mine after Christmas. I don't think OH thought I was going to have to do much on his side, when he asked me to do it for him. To be honest I'm quite surprised at how large his family has turned out to be. Never mind it keeps me out of mischief lol. ;-)

I am pleased you had a better night Frank. I could'nt go to sleep last night for quite a while. Oh was up watching the qualifyers for the race tomorrow but they have cancelled todays because of the typhoon thats expected. So I had the bed all to myself but I think i missed his snoring. This mornig I had cramp in my right calve and he jumped out of bed and rubbed it for me. Not sure if it helped much but you know what its like the next day it hurts a lot.
I rang the man this morning and did leave a message onthe answer phone with my number and then went to the loo. Sods law he rang back while I was in there and oh had to come and answer the phone. He said to ring him on Tuesday as he may have some ready by then. I may yet get some more little girls, hooray! :-D :-D :-D
Gill I hope the paint is ok for the planter as if its that garden paint you must keep it frost free or its no good the next year. It goes all runny and weird or dries out.

Oh goodness Vera, how frustrating. I hope your new neighbours appreciate all you will have done for them and that it now stays off. I think I have said before that our daughter was junior english champion at archery in the 80s (I think it was) She loved the sport but once married didn't keep it up unfortunately. Hope your Grandson can get back to it, if that is what he wants.
Gosh Gill that planter is big. It will look great when all finished and yes you will probably need to raise the pots a bit. Have you got any house brisks they could stand on? When you are in the garden centre look among the sales stuff, sometimes summer ornaments are in there.
Frank I hope you feel more 'with it' today, sorry you felt under the weather yesterday.
Mel it is very grey and extremely windy here today but no rain. Which in a way is unfortunate as OH decided to lie in and not go to golf because heavy rain was forecast. That is twice that has happened this week. Two new chickens from OH, that is nice so I hope they still have them. So you are one of the people who leave silent non speaking messages on the answer phone Mel. Why don't you just say your name and number and add please call me back. It is frustrating not knowing who called. We never answer the phone because of all the scams. so they probably think yours was a scam message if you didn't speak. If we are there and somebody starts to speak with their name we would pick the phone up.

Afternoon all,
We've had really heavy rain here until about half eleven and then the sun came out so i chanced it and got some washing out ,they had a really good blow and i've just got them in as it started coming down again ,they were nearly dry and would have got dry if they had had another half hour .
Oh Mel i hope you can get some more new girls ,it was nice of OH to offer to buy you some more ,the other two look nice and healthy don't they . You've been busy making more nice bits and bobs for the sale i see ,the little cones are pretty .
Oh Vera trust the alarm to play up as soon as the people go away i hope it's all sorted out now and peace reigns again .
Gill it sounds as if Sandra's garden is coming along nicely ,would there be room for a little bird stand or even a bird bath in with the plants ? A little wind chime might look and sound nice .
Glad your feeling a little better today Frank ,that's good your going out for Sunday lunch it will get you out of the bungalow for a while .

OH's just finished painting the planter, it stopped raining hours ago and the sun has been out ever since. You should see it, it looks so much better now it's been painted and Sandra kept going to her room looking out of her window while he was painting. He's just done a bit on the inside as it could be seen when you walked past, some clouds have come over so I hope it doesn't rain until the last bit of paint is dry and we've had a chance to put all the plants back.
You have some good ideas there Mandy, a wind chime would be good and could be quite colourful to and the little bird bath would be ideal as she loves birds. With the planter not having a floor on it I could buy a heavy birth bath so it doesn't get blown over, it can be quite windy here sometimes. She's really looking forward to going shopping now everything is finished. The only thing we may have to do is build a little shelf inside the planter to raise the plants up a bit.
Thanks AnnG for letting me know about possible summer things in the sales of Garden Center's I'll take a look, with a bit of luck Sandra might find something she likes. We have a few heavy breeze blocks, but we'd like to keep them rather than raise the plants in Sandra's garden as we've just re-done the bottom border so we don't know yet if the high winds will blow any of those pots over. We use the breeze blocks to stop the pots rocking in the wind, so like I said to Mandy we might have to build a bit of a shelf to go inside the planter. OH was going to make it today but unfortunately where we cut the wood is right next to the planter and with the paint being wet he didn't want any saw dust going onto the wet paint. Now it looks as if we might have some more rain, so he's leaving it for now and if we can't find some taller plants we'll reconsider the shelf idea.
That was nice of your OH to try and help you with your cramp Mel, I normally do that for my OH as he sometimes suffers with cramp in the night and jumps out of bed hopping around the bedroom. It's quite funny to watch but not so funny for him and like you said you end up with a sore leg or wherever the cramp was the following day.
I've just been watching a programme on channel 5 with Sandra and noticed the "AMAZON" advert with the dachshund and the rain coat, is back on. Boy did we laugh. It's so funny.
If you all fancy a giggle keep an eye out for it, it's well worth watching. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

After lunch I just could'nt keep my eyes open so went and threw myself on the bed next to oh who was already asleep. He woke me at 6pm. I now feel like a wet week in Bogna. He's just made me a drink so I thought I would read the thread.
I hada made homemade soup for lunch with nice olive rolls and tomato rolls and we had two bowls each!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Little piggies or what but at least it all got cleared up and nothing to throw away so that was good . We will probably have toasted cheese sandwiches tonight.
I do usually leave messages on answer phones but I don't know why I did'nt speak yesterday. Oh did say that I had rung the day before anyway.

Morning AnnG and all,
I have heard from Jane to say her lap top is playing up and thats why she has'nt been on here so don't worry about her and she'll be back probable today or tomorrow.
Well it rained all day yesterday and looks very wet out there this morning. What its going to do for the rest f the day I don't know but I expect it will be dreary and wet.
I have half a doz eggs which I may take to Em this morning and go and get the paper and buy some milk as oh has drunk a lot of it this week.
I slept well lst night even after those few hours in the afternoon. I went out like a light and woke at 9am. At least I feel more like myself this morning which must be a plus. Felt so bad yesterday I did'nt even want to do any crafting so I must have been out of salts.

Afternoon All,
At least it's dry, sunny and no wind here at the moment but I think it said rain later.
OH is about to go to a match near J30 on the M1 but is in a flap as he put his thermals away and now can't find them!
Glad you liked my little felted picture AnnG and Mandy. Now it's back to finishing some of my beading as I seem to have too much craft stuff around now.
I was thinking Jane was in London or at Hannah's with going to see Calendar Girls. I suppose the internet on her phone is fiddly to use compared with her laptop. I find my tablet not as good as the laptop for posting as it seems to have a mind of it's own.
It will be good if you get a couple more chucks Mel and nice that your OH has offered to buy them for you. I was shattered and yawning the other day and had a lie down for a while but then felt better. Sometimes you just have to give in to it.
AnnG I was opposite and had another night of being awake till after 3.00am. That's good sorting your clothes out and putting some away. I need to have a sort out of mine too, but I wear my short sleeve tops all year as I'm always too hot and I haven't worn a jumper for over a decade as I have to use a cardigan I can strip off easily. Luckily (for me) at least! 2 of my beading friends are having hot flushes now so at beading yesterday we had the conservatory door wide open. They still had their cardigans on, but I was in short sleeves. lol. They say they always know when it is really, really cold as I will have a coat on! lol.
Gill you are making good progress with Sandra's garden and ideas for it and I'm sure you will come up with even more. Some of those flowers on spikes make little bird drinkers when it rains in them too and they have them in at one of our garden centres now as I saw them the other day.
Better go out with my camera now while the sun's out. There are some nice autumn colours starting to show.

Mel glad you feel better today. and Annx your turn to be tired then, weird isn't it? I am a very cold person and wear a long sleeved T shirt or rugby shirt under a sweater once it is too cold for short sleeves. If I wore short sleeves I would have to have the heating on all the time I was sitting around indoors. Strange how we all vary, our daughter is always hot but that is her medication that causes hot flushes Tamoxafen (I think). She will be 58 in November so it could also be a bit remaining from the menopause. So when we visit it is either me feeling cold or her feeling hot.
We did go into town bought a couple of bits towards C stockings in the 'one Below' shop (everything a pound or below and all good names/makes. also bought a pair of pull on trousers in M&S although not tried them on yet.
I do use email on my phone if neither Ipad or computer are available. Usually have to correct as I go along as the keys are not very big but it is better than nothing.
Found out what daughter's new address will be today and strange coincidence, her road name is exactly the same as ours!!

Ann I loved your picture it reminded me of Shaun the sheep. Hope you sleep better tonight and not still awake at 3am. Did he find his themerals? Its unusual for him to lose things as he is so methodical.
Been busy this morning and this afternoon. I have done the egg delivery and the shop for the paper and more milk, done lunch and washed up and got a big fruit cake underway to cook tomorrow. Its the same one I make for a Christmas cake but I left the walnuts out and put more cherries in. That should last us a while if oh dos'nt nick it in the mornings.
Done a wash today too. Its been dry today so far with a couple of brighter spells but the sky is now cloudy.
Think I shall go and do a bit of craft now.
Hoppe Jane can get on here later today. Did she say she was going away this weekend?

Yes, the sheep got more like Shaun as I did them Mel although I didn't set out to make them like him at first. Your Christmassy cake will make the kitchen smell nice and might last for a while if your OH doesn't sneak too many bits! With OH it's bits of cheese that go missing from the fridge.
I went to look at a bungalow for sale in the next village is. It is newer than ours, with some rooms bigger and double garage but has one bedroom less (not ideal!) and is at the end of a cu de sac, but with a big drive to park about 6 cars. Within a 5 minute walk is our doctors' surgery, an Aldi etc, so good in that respect but pricey for 2 bedrooms. As usual, the advertising doesn't show the full picture. One back fence has the new Iceland car park the other side, the side fence has a jitty along it and is only a path width from the side of the bungalow. The double garage plus the neighbour opposite's single garage are both built onto the neighbour opposite's bungalow?? Not sure how that would work with repairs, repainting! A nice modern bungalow, but not for us with those drawbacks. I thought I'd found another earlier in the week at the edge of the same village but they had built a multi storey care home at the back of it so no privacy at all.
It is weird AnnG and like your daughter with her medication I was told that thyroxine I take can cause some overheating. When I could walk ok, on a Sunday morning we would do some of the walks that they would suggest in our local paper. We did laugh one frosty morning as OH had hat, scarf, gloves, jacket, anorak, jeans and 2 pairs of socks on and I had just jeans and a T shirt on. I heat up anyway with walking and after about 10 minutes OH was grabbing my hand to warm his up on. :-) It is horrid though as summer heat stops me doing things and in the winter these days, shops are far too hot for me and can make me feel overwhelmed. I smile when I see old ladies (even though I suppose I am one too!) in shops protesting to each other that the cotton tops are far too thin to keep you warm, whereas it's the thin ones I look for.
I had an email from FMP earlier showing probate records were now available to 2019, so had a google and found that an old work colleague that I thought must have passed away many years ago had only died last year aged 96! He was brilliant when I started in the Civil Service, as with staff shortages they tended to overload you and it was easy to get disheartened when you didn't know what you were doing either. He used to be on hand to answer all my questions, called me his adopted daughter, had a wicked sense of humour and his wife even baked bread for me when there were shortages in the 70s and used to save women's magazines for me. When he retired he moved to Yorkshire and I visited once or twice but his wife felt it made him more homesick afterwards (she was a Yorkshire girl and he had promised they would move to Yorkshire when he retired) so they decided his weekly letters and contact should stop in order to help him settle. I have some Christmas pillowcases he drew for me somewhere. He had perfect handwriting (his father had been a signwriter.) It's silly because I hadn't seen him or heard from him since 1983, but I felt quite upset as it seems all the people that I knew really well in life are popping off and they don't seem to get easily replaced as you get older.

I know just what you mean Ann about not replacing good old friends. Being where we are we only see people if we go out and oh dos'nt go out hardly at all. He does talk to Phil next door when he is mowing the front field and they have been friends with us for years. They are Em's mum and dad, Phil and Val.
So you thought they looked like Shaun the sheep too then? and it was'nt just me.

Hi all
I'm very late on here today.
We took Sandra out to buy some things for her planter, she chose three butterflies on sticks that had some glow in the dark flowers on them, they look really nice inside the planter, she also found some lovely glitter butterflies in various colours including her favourite colour of pink which clip onto things, so I'm going to clip them onto the screening at the back. I tried to clip them on when we returned home but the clips are pointing upward so they kept slipping off, so I'm going to use some wire and wire them onto the screening. OH and I found some lights, so we bought 240, they are like little balls, we bought soft white ones rather than coloured ones as they looked a bit Christmasy and they are for all year around. The only problem with them is they're very bright, so instead of putting them on the screening behind the plants we've decided to put them inside the planter so the light goes upward through the plants.
We struck lucky with a way of plugging the lights in as we found a waterproof box type thing that has an extension lead inside that can stay outside and the wire is then put through the wall of the bungalow and plugged in inside, so all we need to do is drill one hole through the wall and plug it in. The lead is 10 meter's long so plenty long enough to reach. The waterproof box is so good we're going to buy another one as they are only in the shops in the run up to Christmas and OH wants another one so we can buy some lights to go into the waterfall we bought last year.
So all in all we're had a good day. Oh and we bought some flowers for Sandra's garden as well. She chose those to. I found the Michaelmas Daisy's in a lovely dark pink about 1 foot tall, they didn't have any taller, but Sandra loves it and she chose 10 Primular plants which I'm going to re-plant into larger pots for her planter, we also bought another pink plants but I can't remember the name. Apparently if we were to plant it in the ground it would grow quite big and it flowers from summer right through to the first frosts so should give her some colour for most of the year. Unfortunately they only had one of those, the same as the Michaelmas Daisy, but it's a start. When we got to the garden centre there was a craft fayre on so we had a look and found a lovely butterfly wind chime, but unfortunately it was very loud and Sandra thought it might keep her awake so we didn't buy it. I didn't think about the noise right outside her bedroom window, which is why she chose the butterflies that clip onto the screening instead.
She's had so much fun choosing everything and although we couldn't find exactly what she wanted she's very pleased with everything we did find. She asked me if it's going to be finished by Thursday as she wants to take a photo to show her Nan as we're going to visit her for her birthday. I checked the weather and unfortunately it's going to rain apart from one day, so it looks like we're going to be busy trying to finish it all for her on that day. She understands that if the weather is wet we can't sort out the lights and electric but at least we could put all the flowers and butterflies in place for her, even if we have to put on a water proof coat and do it in the rain. OH needs to make the shelf for the inside of the planter as I'd like to sit the lights on that. I know they're water proof but I'd feel better if they weren't sitting on the floor where possible puddles could form. At least we have almost everything, so it should look lovely for her very soon.
I haven't caught up with the post ,so will do that tomorrow. Hope everyone is okay, see you tomorrow. Night Night
