Looking a bit like this, I imagine, lolol...... no physical activity..... lots of external, technological mental stimulii.... and tablets to eat for sustenance.... well, here we go, lol!!

Or..... as Eldrick has said.... wipe out! But then I think there will be the odd few humans who will survive that... I don't think humankind will be totally wiped out, but do think we might have to get the whole evolutionary process up and running again.

Wonder who will be saved and who will pop their clogs????

Love

Interesting site, but I personally prefer a more secular approach to the topic. to be honest.

*attempts to keep straight face*

It'll be a natural disaster, no humankind left, only single celled organisms and cockroaches, who are frankly, indestructable.

Everything will have to evolve from the second primeval soup until the planet reaches the same stage that it is at today by which time the sun will have cooled and everything will die.

I do like to look on the bright side!

ah, but supposing that we have managed to colonise distant galaxies.....would we return to give evolution a helping hand...?

I dont think we would, but I think the species would survive in some way

Darklord

Darklord Report 26 Mar 2010 21:39

it seems to be subject in which some people evade, as it is more easy to look backwards rather than forwards.
Several sites seem to err on cyborg type technology making natural born humans an endangered spieces.
There is also the possibility of a human spin off.

But will we be physically and mentally strong enough to survive? I think technology has made us soft - except for Bear Gryllis of course:-)) Could we start again? And would we want to?

As one web site claims.

With a cream, pill or Laser surgery we have overcome natural selection.

DL

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 26 Mar 2010 21:47

I think so. I think the species will survive in some shape or form, maybe genetically manipulated to breed out disease and illness, but the knock on effect of that would be a massive population explosion, so in the future that will have to be tackled.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 26 Mar 2010 21:52

Well there it is of course - the other problem. Too many people for the planet to support. Is this when we start looking for other places to live? Or will it be the norm to cull our population until we have superhumans. All "defective" people terminated?

Ah

Now we are talking about the Logan Run Theory

I think all women will be clones of Laura Croft

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 26 Mar 2010 21:57

The Logan Run was the compulsory euthanasia of all who reached a certain age - I think it more likely that ruthless birth management will be the only manageable solution. But theres no doubt that the world only has a finite capacity to feed it's population.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 26 Mar 2010 21:58

If I was world president, I would make that compulsory. Either Lara Croft or Fiona Bruce.

Remember the movie Solyent Green?

Soylent Green is a 1973 American science fiction film depicting a dystopian future in which overpopulation leads to depleted resources, which in turn leads to widespread unemployment and poverty. Real fruit, vegetables and meat are rare, expensive commodities, and much of the population survives on processed food rations, including "soylent green" wafers. "Soylent Green is people! We've got to stop them somehow!"
