Just wondering how Caz got on with the doctor this morning. Hope it all went well for you Caz!

Linda, hope all is well with you and your family today. I expect you will be off to visit your daughter and grandson later on today. Have started knitting anything blue yet?

It's very cold here today, I just popped up to town on the bus, got the shopping I needed and caught the next bus home...much too cold to hang about.lol!!

Hope all our friends are all alright and keeping warm.

Speak to you soon.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 2 Feb 2012 14:17

Cooeee girls.
Isn't it cold, brrrr I am frozen to the marrow. We have been up to town today to stock the freezer up, just in case we get snowed in.
Bought extra tea, milk, potato's and bread.

Oooh and guess what, I have been in contact with a relation in OZ, who I didn't even know existed.
She is my dads youngest sisters daughter, my cousin.
That makes three cousins in OZ, and another one in this country that I had no idea of.
My dad never spoke very much about his family, but now I discover that my grandfather, was taken prisoner by the Japanese, when he was living in Hong Kong, and that all the women were shipped over to OZ, including three of my aunts.
Oh what a surprise that was to me. I knew that the family had lived in Hong Kong for some time, but had no idea in what year.
She has been good enough to open her tree for me on Ancestry, and both our trees tally up. Such good news.

I hope you are all well, and that Linda has managed to get to see her new grandson by now.
Bye for now, love to you all. Mo xxx

AnninGlos Report 2 Feb 2012 16:51

cold here too. We also went and bought the groceries just in case although we don't often get bad snow here. Even if it is just icy though we won't go out. What a surprise to find out about your new cousin Mo and also the news about your grandfather. Nice to have some more 'meat' to put on the bones. :-D

Sallie Report 2 Feb 2012 19:04

Mo, lovely news about finding another cousin in Oz. My dad hardly spoke about his family either apart from his mum, so don't know too much about his dad's side of the family, which is a shame.....and with a name like Hughes that were from North Wales, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.lol!!

Do you think that you might meet them all one day Mo? It would be great for you all if you had some kind of family reunion.

Ann, I don't blame you for getting a bit of extra shopping in just in case it snows. I think you are like us here in SE Derbyshire, we hardly ever get a bad fall of snow, thank goodness.

How is your daughter? It can't be many more days now before she starts her treatment. Will be thinking about her and all the family.

Huia, I hope things are alright with you. It seems a while since we heard from you.

Caz, if you are looking in, I hope you got on alright with seeing the doctor today.

Jean I expect you are busy making cards. Hope you, Jeff and Debra are all OK.

Linda, hope things are all OK with daughter and your grandson. Did you manage to see them today? I read on one of the threads that your FiL was is going to saty with you for a few days.

Sylvia, I hope things are all OK with you and OH. Hope you are not having any snow. It's very cold here but no snow in this area so far.
Just hope it stays away.lol!!

Marie , if you are looking in, hope that things are beginning to get sorted for you and your family. Thinking about you all.

Dutch, how are you doing with your new Cuttlebug. I bet there is no stopping you from making cards now. I've made a start making them again, so there is hope for me yet.lol!!

Well ladies, take care and keep warm, for those of you living in colder climes.

Speak to you all soon.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Huia Report 2 Feb 2012 20:16

Hello girls. I havent added to the threads lately as I have not had too much to add and have been busy. I noticed when I backed the wagon out of the garage the other day that the headlight glass was shattered, so had to get a new one. Well actually I got a 2nd hand one, over the road from the garage that usually services my wagon. He suggested it as being cheaper and said if I got one to go back to him to have it fitted. It cost $50 as against probably 4 or 5 times that much new, and the garage didnt charge me for fitting it. Yesterday I noticed the trim at the top of my windscreen was buckled. I asked at the local garage and he suggested going to a windscreen place as they could put in a new piece, as the old piece has shrunk. I have to go to town this morning so will see if I can get it done when I am in there.

Better go and get ready for my trip to town.

Huia.

Good evening
Been to see Sebastian this evening
His breating is easier, but he is jaundiced so under a light.
He is being fed now so things should improve.
He and his Mum seem well I am glad to say.

I hope you are feeling better Caz and that your ankle heals better than hoped for.

Huia how is Phil, have you seen him recently?

Yes I have been knitting Sallie, you know me too well.

Linda, pleased to hear that both mum and baby are well. I bet you can't wait to have your first cuddle of him.....I would be just the same.

Huia, nice to hear from you, glad to hear that you are OK.

Goodnight everyone.

Huia Report 3 Feb 2012 06:23

Linda, I try to visit Phil twice a week. He is always the same, no sign of knowing me. Drops asleep. I sometimes wonder why I bother, but I feel I have to just in case he does know me. At least if I cant make it occasionally I dont let it worry me.

I got the strip round the windscreen replaced, so that is good. I wonder what the next thing will be. I have been thinking of taking out a sub to Ancestry for one or 2 months so I can try to get people to correct their trees, but I might wait a few months as there are plenty on Mundia, which is not costing me, and I am working on them.

I wonder how those people would feel if I married their sister or mum to Osama bin Laden?

Hi girls I have got up for a bit for a bite to eat. The doctor told me I have to keep the foot off the floor at all times, how do you do that. I also have to stay in bed all the time to keep my foot up, it's painful now but I suppose it will lessen in time. So 6-8 weeks of staying in bed for me, I have to go for an x-ray next thursday so hope things have started mending.

Love Caz ..

Sallie

Sallie Report 3 Feb 2012 13:33

Caz, hope you find from next Thursdays x-ray that the bones in your foot are healing nicely. It's a bit of a nuisance having to stay in bed so that you can keep it up, but never mind, if it will help it to heal quicker it will be worth it. Will be thinking about you. Take care.

AnninGlos Report 3 Feb 2012 17:48

Huia you seem to be having a few little things go wrong with your car. How did the light get smashed?

Caz, I expect you have to rest in bed to get your leg to heal because your bones are fragile. But surely you must have to move around a bit? to avoid other problems like bed sores and DVD. Let's hope the x-ray shows it is healing.

Ann, I presume I must have driven into a stone that had been thrown up by either me or another vehicle.

Must go and change, I will visit Phil this morning then go to our gen rooms on the way back to look up something for another person.

Hello girls, just popping in to say hello, and then back to my research.
My cousin in Australia has such a lot of lovely photo's that I have been looking at.
My other cousin out there has been ringing me every night, asking for updates, and she is going to ring her.
How lovely is this, finding long lost cousins that we had no idea existed.
Take care all of you, love and best wishes. Mo xxx

Hi Ann I get up at lunchtime for a bit but hubby pushes me on my typist chair, then get up at teatime to sit in my recliner chair for the night. I am the worlds worst patient so hope they don't send me into hospital on Thursday as they said they might if there is no sign of healing. As you say the state of my bones won't help but they mentiioned it themselves and said it might not heal well because of it.

Sallie I decide I would do some fathers day cards earlier this year last year I was late doing them and had a lot left so I thought I would do a few now and then , also Mothers day cards, I have done some valentines too. but I need to use up some of the many packs of card blanks I have , which does make life easier.... hope you send pics of your cards to Ann, so we can see them, hope you and the family are doing o.k. and Jennie is getting on well...xx

Huia, just had a look at the picture of your house or should I say Mansion it looks huge, but in a lovely setting, do you have any near neighbours? it would be to remote for me , but I have always lived in or near a town, so I suppose its what you prefer.... hope Phil is doing as well as he can, it must be tiring for you to go so much and also sad when you dont get much response, my friends OH was in the same condition, and she used to get so upset, until a nurse said he is very happy in his own world its the relatives that worry .... so much love and hugs for you....xxx

Hi girls,
We have got at least six inches of snow here. The main roads have been cleared, but our side roads are treacherous.
At the moment it's starting to freeze outside, so tomorrow it's going to be a stay at home day.
I am hoping that they will cancel the darts match tomorrow night, as I don't fancy us having to make the journey to the venue if it's icy.
We have got the central heating, and the gas fire going, to try and keep warm.
Sorry to be so late getting here, but a friend of mine phoned me, and we were on the phone for over an hour, catching up with each others lives.
I am just glad it was her ringing me, and not the other way round though.

I hope you are all keeping safe and warm. Take care of yourselves. Love Mo xxx

Morning all
Very cold here in Berkshire, still have snow on our lawn, hopefully it will warm up today, though it will be very cold overnight.

Have spent a couple of days with the new Mum and all is going well. Feeding is getting better everyday for them both. Their dog was introduced to the baby yesterday and he took very little interest and wasn't too worried that my daughter had to take time with the baby.

Had all the family here for a meal yesterday to celebrate our son's birthday, which was really nice. The baby's first outing. Our youngest's birthday is in 2 weeks so it will happen again then. February will be busy for us.

Hope everyone is well.

Glad you get to see Phil Huia and hope he is a little responsive the next time you see him.
We need to take the baby to see my Mum soon. But it is an hours drive there so needs to be planned. She will be thrilled though and my daughter wants to see her very soon. Can't believe it is nearly 4 months since my father passed away, but she seems happy in the home and well looked after.
