well ladies I spoke to my doctor about testosterone for women and she says yes it can be helpful not only with the lost libido but with metabolising fat.Apparently it's available in cream form though you should aim for less than 2% cream and use sparingly or you can have it in patches .I'm thinking about it but as I already have a problem with excess hair, which has regretably returned after laser treatment I will take time before making a decision.I have NOT mentioned it to my O.H. yet as I don't want to get his "hopes" up .No pun intended lol.Though I have to admit his patience is wearing a bit thin with the lack of activity in that dept.Sadly I'd still rather have a cup of tea and a good book ..................... |

Happy Sunday, from a cold , very cold West of Scotland .Iwon't be surprised if there's snow before the end of the day.Chances are I'll be veging in front of the T.V. certainly tonight for the X Factor final and I might watch the Susan Boyle programme. Will record House and Spooks for during the week.I don't think I've ever felt less Christmassy I'm blaming that ,as I do everything else ,on my hormones.20 years today since we moved into this house and it's also my late mother's birthday my O.H. bought this house when he was out for a training run for a marathon! He didn't ask my opinion as I'd been saying for weeks we needed an extra bedroom so he just went ahead without me.I HATED IT at first and probably for 2or3 years after we moved in,but now I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. It's not my "dream house" that was the house before this but on the whole we've been happy here.....and that's what counts |

It's been 4 years past in September since I lost my mum,and my father-in-law 3 weeks later.I still pick up the phone expecting to hear her voice.Although we were devastated when she passed away ,it really was a case of us having to give her "permission" to go .Within an hour of my sister and I telling her we were able to manage without her and promising that we would always keep the family together , she'd gone. I always light a candle for her whenever I am near a church and raise a glass to her on her special days. |

Hi Jane, just heard from my friend that her mum is not expected to make it 'til the end of the week. It made me so angry ,she was always bright and sprightly until the past 3 months and although her daughter has been back and forth to doctors and hospitals with her for tests, all they would say was" it's just old age" Well she collapsed on Friday and her "old age " has now been diagnosed as advanced colon cancer.Surely regardless of age that should have been found before now? She has been in such pain and her state of mind has suffered as a result, she's a totally different person from she was just a few months ago when she was dancing at her grandaughter's wedding ,This can't be the right way to treat our senior citizens. |

Poor Lady Patricia.I am so sorry for her and her daughter.I do sometimes think that the elderly are not taken seriously and like you say Just old age.I hope that she has good pain control now and is given a lot of TLC.It doesn't look as though your friend is in for a Happy Christmas this year. |

Been awake since 4am, had my recurrent dream about not being able to breathe, and I can never sleep afterwards. Cant have a rest because we have workmen in installing a new handbasin in the loo. They have to install the piping from scratch, so its quite a bit of work. |

Hi Jean, hope all went well with your hospital appointment. The wait for them is usually the hardest part.Anyone have experience of Diabetes ,our 21/2 year old grandaughter has to go to the paediatric dept for investigations as the doctor thinks she may have type 1 diabetes.I have no knowledge of the condition at all ,and would be grateful for anything that will help keep my daughter calm until we get the results |

Well, saw the specialist, and am to have bladder function tests to see if I am a good subject for vaginal vault repair, or, as he put it, we would put a sling round your bladder and reposition it! I also have to stay permanently on Vagifem pessaries. |

Blue skies, sunshine ,dry and crisp underfoot. Can't believe the south has the worst of the weather! It's been a great day for wrapping up warm annd getting some exercise..Or in my case, putting on a t-shirt and a lightweight coat and not sweltering for a change. Thanks for the advice on Diabetes ,though I hope we won't need it.,it is much appreciated |

Well ,the winter has finally arrived in West of Scotland ,cars lie abandoned round every corner and the gritter seems to have got lost .It's sheet ice under the snow so miss Sophie and I will not be venturing out today. Her hospital appointment has been postponed as the hospital staff couldn't get in on time! We're in the unfortunate position of having our hospital services cut and the next nearest hospital is 20 miles away accross the river by a bridge that is often closed due to high winds and adverse weather conditions. It would seem that it is not the economic decision we thought it was as it was reported in our newspapers that N.H.S. managers are in for a 30 MILLION pound bonus !!! Nice to know that their priority is not the patients who face a 3hour round trip by public transport to get to hospital if they have no car or for family and friends to visit. |

Thanks for the info and advice GG :) Mum is one of those people who avoids the doctor like the plague and has to be at death's door before she takes any kind of medication. The fact that she's contemplating either means that things are pretty bad Lol. During past couple of years she's gone from size 10 to 14 - but as I tell her - she probably shouldn't eat as much now Lol Seriously, I guess that as we age we lose muscle and do not need so many calories. She's also got arthritis in her neck and has to be careful. Oh, the joys of getting older. Never mind, I will take care of her :) |

Hi Catie, good to hear you're looking out for your mum.If she decides on H.R.T. tell her to ask her Doctor about the bio-identical type.I know it's not widely prescribed but all the info I've read says it is far safer and has less side effects than the "normal" types many of which are derived from the urine of pregnant mares. There's also a website that can give you lots of info called WOMENS HEALTH M.D. although it's an American site it has a lot of helpful info.If she decides to go with her G.P.'s advice it really is trial and error to get one that suits |
