It sounds like your thyroid has slowed your metabolsim right down so that your blood flow around your body has also slowd down.(particularly to the extremities like your arms and legs.). This would explain the shrinking back of your veins and also the numbness/ itching. Blood cells carry oxygen to these areas normally. But now it is taking loger to get this oxygen to the cells in your hands and legs. |

It does seem a horrible illness that takes many forms and makes you fell less than well a lot of the time. Doctors dont seem to be too bothered about checking for it, wild hair and irritable skin, feeling very tired are usual, and eating things like broccolli and sprouts actually slow down the way your thyroxine works. |

Hi my daughter was diaznosed (sp) with underactive when she was 12 years old, had a small lump like an Adams apple and went to GP. he got some blood tests done, spent a week in hospital. |

Hiya Ray... hope you don't mind me adding... I thought I had underactive thyroid last year... I had post-partum hyperactive thyroid, which cleared when my baby was about 6 months... and this is often a precursor. My nan died from complications from hers (treatment is different now). |

I too have an under thyroid( the Hashimoto type)~eye problems is just one of the problems with an u.a.t.. |
