I live in Herne Bay, North Kent Coast - wasn't too bad when I left out at 6.30am this morning - bit windy - but the trains into London were put on a go slow, causing delays.

Was quite scary being on the train and feeling the force of the wind against it.

Now it's chucking it down and still windy outside (City of London).

If anyone else is going to be travelling on Southeastern trains - they recommended checking for cancellations/delays before travelling today.

Just a quick message before I switch off for a while.

Here right on the coast of the solent the wind has started to pick up and a thunder storm has just started with it. I came past the solent about an hour ago and looking at it I would be very surprised if any of the ferries to the isle of wight would be running at this time, the sea is really rough and the tide seems larger then normal.

We are not quite in the middle of this storm yet but hopefully it wont get too much worse then it has been.

Catch up soon :)

Penny, just looked on the satellite pics, and although we have had it rough in Norwich this morning and it has brightened upa bit, though still very windy...the worst is about to hit us.

On the pic, there is a huge bank of cloud covering the whole country...then a gap, then a swirling part...that is the part that is over southern england at the moment and contains the thunder and worst winds..

The edge of that is about an hour away from me ...

About two hours ago the wind and rain stopped and then turned to sunshine on the east Yorkshire coast but starting to dull down again now

Well im back for a while lol It seems the thunder was just the odd clap and it brightened back up for a while. Its very odd here right at the moment as you just cannot seem to predict what is going to happen next. Its going really dark and one moment the wind dies down and then comes back with a vengance.

Hi Lorraine:)

The tanker could explain the air sea rescue helicopter

Lorraine

Lorraine Report 10 Mar 2008 14:03

Yes colin

think it is the tanker , don't think anybody would be so mad as to out on on the fishing boats today

Im just over the hill, moved out of copnor 4 years ago so we are not at threat from the floods just the wind

Hi Lorraine

Im right near to the solent and local creeks , 3 quarter surrounded by water very close to Haslar sea wall. Although I think we are quite safe here generally, we are in a an environmental flood warning area and I keep looking out my back windows accross to see if the horse fields have any water creeping up into them. Its pretty flat near me.

We have never been flooded before but they didnt give out those warnings for nothing. Fingers crossed it isnt this time either :)

Well it brightened up nicely here in Maidstone just before lunch time - almost wondered what all the fuss was about lol

Now however - it is as miserable as anything - howling wind - horizontal rain .................. and strangely not a customer/builder in sight LOL

That bright bit was the eye of the storm apparently McAnne.

It's definitely building up here again. Oh well, back to work...time will tell if I can get back home again LOL

We've just lost a pane of glass in the greenhouse....................son-in-law coming straight round to help repair it before the wind gets in and breaks the rest.

If need be, they will just cover it with a tarpaulin..............more fence panels have blown down in our road in the last half an hour.

It's building up again just in time for the school run!

xx

At the moment, in Southampton, it is reasonably calm - but it hasn't been!!
I did not get much sleep as the wind and rain were hitting the side of the house and my very large bedroom window.
Boy, was it wild! I don't like storms with my name!
Yes, we had a few flashes and claps of thunder here, and even a bit of sun.
However, I have NEVER seen my barometers so low - and they are STILL falling!!
So do not unbatten your hatches just yet!!
