Sorry to hear about that Lou. Our little Billy was used as bait for a pack of Alsations - we got him from emergancy fostercare - our vet told us about him (I think I sent you there web page once). He was a terrified little runt. We couldnt bring him home till his eyes changed colour as they didnt think he was even eight weeks.

At over a year now, he is now the sweetest loving animal - without any fear even though he has had to move in the pecking order since our new additions.

I cant say what I feel about people that use Kittens or any other animal for that or I would be banned from GR.

But its people like you that work to change this and you must remember the good things in your job.

Little Star unfortunatly cannot come home with me - it's too noisy here with all the other animals...
She was brought in by a lady who had brought her up from the Midlands somewhere (i didn't really listen to that bit as i was so shocked!)
She came in with another cat from a different home - i believe the lady rescues cats in her spare time - my boss had known her many years.

The case is being 'reviewed' with the intention of bringing a prosicution (spelling?)

Anyway - when she's more settled i will get her pic for you all....

Thankyou all, if it wasn't for people like you i'd have no time for humans at all....!

We had a cat for four years that was a cruelty case.

At about 6 months old he was found lying on the ground by a wall................he had been used as a football.

He was blind and had no hip joint in his back leg, but we managed to give him a happy life with us until he died suddenly one evening, at home all curled up in his bed.

Our oldest has Chronic IBD and is on meds for life - we took her in aged approx five - us or the needle as she was dumped as too expensive to keep alive - we are her fifth and last home. Our boy as you know was bait for Alsations and our latest two one is bewtween 10 and 12 and grumpy as sin (If he was a dog I may be in trouble) ..... and the other is about 5 with only three legs! All my animals have been rescues too. Jimmy fat cat was left outside, not allowed indoor, son rescued him. He lives a life of luxury here with Mad dog Madoc from the rspca - he was a road traffic accident, taken to a vet who did'nt do a very good job on his leg and rehomed, they then moved to a flat and we took him from Newport - he limps quite abit on a hind leg. He's been to specialist vets and is regularily checked at ours, in fact he's been there today. He sprawled out now on the sofa - l had to squeeze inbetween him and cat - later he'll be in bed with me until oh calls him down.
Bounce was another cat we had - we found him in the garden, he had 3 legs and the stump was infected. His owners told us we could keep him. Vet did a lovely job and he lived to 15yrs. Lady was an English Bull terrier cross - my beautiful, beautiful Lady - she died 2004 of cancer.
Although all of mine have suffered in some way, god they have'net suffered like this poor little Star - god bless her. l still can't my head round this one.

Glenys the Menace! Report 13 Feb 2008 23:26

I can't believe some of the things I read and hear about our so-called fellow human beings.
The eldest of our 5 cats, Chloe, even though we've had her since 1997, took 6 years to have the confidence to sit on our laps. Even now, if someone comes down the stairs, however loudly or quietly, she stiffens and jumps off my lap, and hides. Even one of us opening the front door sends her running. God only knows what happened to her before the RSPCA rescued her.
Quite often, if I want her to approach me and she won't come over, I'll crouch down and turn my back on her - and she comes over. Always works with her.
Lou, good luck with little Star. Thank God for people like you (and the rest on this thread!). :-))))

My Caddy is a recue cat - chucked in a rubbish skip as a baby with his mum and all his brothers and sisters. He was the only one who could be rehomed, the others live at the rescue centre. He's a little darling, the best cat I have ever had. Our old bull terrier Tootsie was a rescue job as well, God knows what happened to her love her, but she was an absolute darling. Thank God there are people like you around Lou!!

OMG! Only just read this thread, and feel so sick to the pit of my stomach. How can anyone who calls themselves human do such auful things to defenceless little animals. When they do such disgusting things to animals, they should be banned for life from having pets. Would like to suggest a more serious punishment, but I would be thrown off GR.

Hope this little darling gets better, and spends the rest of her life in the loving home she deserves.

Waiting with baited breath for an update. Thank you for nudging this thread Glenys

You're welcome, Vicky. Thank goodness I didn't kill yet another thread! lol
Oh, Vicky - another thing: I'd be there with you, thrown off GR!
Perhaps these "people" should be taken to, say, the Serengeti, get dropped off and left there. See how they manage there .............
