Just wondered if anyone can do a look up on the electoral register for my grandmother. Reasn I ask, is I havent been able to find her marriage or birth as we are not sure she was born in the uk. But my nans eldest daughter seems to think she died when my nan was young, about 9 yrs of age. I have looked for her death and I have been unable to find it, so I thought maybe I could narrow down the year by asking for an electoral look up. Hope you understand what I mean. lol.

Her name is Elizabeth Sims, and she was living in Orsett, chadwell st mary's when my nan Edith Sims was born in 1917. The last child I know of that survived was Monica Sims in 1924, but she died in 1928 and her father was the informant, this was registered in Billericay.

My Aunt seems to think that my nan had many other siblings that didnt survive, but so far I have not been able to find any.

I know this is a very tricky request, but if anybody could help I would be very very grateful.

yes that is my nans details, she is registered as being born at 17 montreal Road. sadly my nan has passed away, so I have been unable to find any solid information about her mother and father. My nans eldest daughter, seems to believe my nans mother died when my nan was around 9 yrs. I know her mother was still around in 1924 as she had my nans sister, who passed away in 1928, her death was registered by my nans father. I also have my nans fathers cert, but it doesnt mention anything about his wife. I dont recall ever hearing anything mentioned about my nans parents from when I was a little girl, just my grandads parents so you can see my quandry (dont think thats spelt right lol).

There are rumours that my nans parents came from Ireland. although the other day my aunt told me she thought it was my nans mum that came from Ireland and not her dad, so not really sure where to look next.

thanks for all your replies, all details you have found are correct, and I have all those, which is why it puzzles me that my aunt thinks my nan was one of nine, as I havent found any of them. We think my nans mum might of died in childbirth, but we are not sure, all we have is she died when my nan was around 9.

Portland Rose, Ediths father was Charles Frederick Sims. He died in 1966 .

I think this may be the marriage for Charles Frederick as in the right area, other half's name down as Smith. Could she have been married before?

It appears to be an Emma B Smith who marries a Charles F Sims. Could she have been known as Elizabeth and not born Elizabeth? Is this why you can'd find a death?

Could be, but I cant be sure its the same guy until I find his marriage to Elizabeth Sims (nee Ringwood), was hoping if I could find Elizabeths death, then I might be able to go a bit further with finding out more information about her.
I have been given an address for some of her relatives, again by my aunt, but not sure of the connection, the address she gave me was:

Surname: Hoolihan or O'hoolihan
101 Watling Street, dublin, Ireland.

Not sure when this address was given to my aunt, but she said this was all she had with regards her nan Elizabeth Sims, they were related somehow, but I dont know how.

Looks like Charles was born c1883.

Someone has him on Ancestry. It lists Louisa, Edith, Albert and Monica as children. They have Elizabeth born 1895.

Thanks Rose for all your hard work. Cant really rule out that Charles was in the service or anything, but I am not sure about his birth, as my cousin thinks he was a horses groom in ireland which made me think he was from Ireland, but my aunt thought he was from essex so now really confused. Will have to keep looking for her death lol, see what I can unveil.
