I have no idea what im doing I keep signing up for things and i still get nowhere - Im looking for Laura Ann Jones who is born around 1885 that married John Owen Roberts who is born abot 1891 his father is Thomas Roberts and like most was a Quarryman - I think they were married about 1914 but i cant get a definate as the indexes give hardly any info. John Owen died 3-11-1967 in Pontypridd and Laura Ann died 18-12-1947. They both lived in Pontypridd. They had 2 children i know of Olive Maisey and Sybil J, Im trying to find Lauras parents names and John Owens parents and wether either of them had brothers or sisters.
any help or info would be so GREATLY appreciated im in Australia and i cant go to london to look through there indexes I dont know what to do

This is the only John O. Roberts I can find in the Wales 1901 census with a father called Thomas who is a quarryman:-

Im pretty sure it was Jones as she is on my grandmothers birth certificate as witness at birth.
Having a last name Maisey would explain the daughters maiden name Maisey!

Thanks for that that is the only one i could find myself but would this mean it is the only John Owen? I have to wait 3 weeks to get the certificate thats if its the right one!

oh thanjks for that, that could help! She died before John and he remarried Hilda Constance - she was easy to find the other part of the family is almost a mystery!

Sybil Roberts is my great grandmother - so on my grandmothers birth certificate Rosalie Butt daughter of William Henry Butt and Sybil Roberts 1940 in Pontypridd in the "present at birth" section is Laura Ann Jones (mother) so i assume this is Sybils mother.

Rob, I dont have the birth certificate for Sybil it is on the way we have been told it will be delayed for postal reasons!
See Sybil left my nan when she was 8 and disappeared never to be seen again so we know very little. My nan (still alive) spent years and a lot of money to find her when she did find her she had died 2 years earlier and the reason we couldnt find her is because when she left she changed her name from sybil to Syliva Joan Burt then a few years later married Arthur Hoare and we cant track him either as Sybil had 2 other children to Arthur it seems the more i look for things the more stuff pops up that i have to look for that as well its like going around in circles!

This could be right as i have his death certificate and i worked out John Owen was 77 when he died which made his birth year 1881ish.
I also cant understand why on his death certificate it has John Owen Roberts (Hall) is there a reason why a man would have an additional surname?

Im not sure of Olive but Sybil is born I think 13 sep 1914 - she died in 1995 in Podsmead.
Olive married an Archibald Evan Hughes had a son Colin he was born 20-7-1943 this is almost all i have.

u are right never though of that,
according to nan olive was only a few years older or yonger - The only thing i can find is a John O Roberts marriage to Jones in 1914 in Angelsea im iffy on getting certificates with that little detail as it is going to cost $65 aussie money to get it and if its the wrong people i think id cry
