I know my husband's grandfather died of natural causes 12 Dec 1931 at sea. I've found a couple of newspaper cuttings to confirm this. He was a skipper on board a trawler and his body was brought back to Lowestoft, his home town. A post mortem was carried out but an inquest was not necessary. |

Did you search the first quarter 1932 ? if he is not their you could try the oversea section on Find my past as his death details could be there |

The General Register Office's Marine Registers record deaths at sea on ships registered in Great Britain or Ireland from 1 July 1837. These are available on film or fiche through LDS libraries everywhere. The IGI covers events 'at sea.' If the name you are seeking does not appear in the Marine Registers of the GRO, then you should consider a search in the records held at the Public Record Office in Kew, England |

Who is Joseph the father for? Annie or William? |

I should add that I have found two Census taken on board two fishing boats both with a William Smith of the right age and from Suffolk. First is the 'Thomas' in 1891 and second is 'Success' in 1901. |

Kathleen helped last night when I was trying to establish the birth. I have a certificate 4a 734 for a William George Smith born 1 Jun 1871 Blundeston, Suffolk to a Harriet Smith. No father mentioned. I have no way of deciding if this is really my William. |

So if your William George Smith is not the one you've found all the info for & his father really IS Joseph, he may be born anywhere. Right? |
