Evening everyone, my aunt (who I am named after ) married an American in 1945 in England and the story is that she went to America with him and in illness came back to England and died two years later.
I feel an affinity to her (both have same name, both nurses and people say that we look alike) and wish to find out more.
Can anyone suggest any ways of finding out how she went, with whom and how and when she travelled back.
I would also like to know what happened to her husband,

First of all you need to look up their marriage. Which district - do you have any clues? What were their names?

I have the original marriage certificate.
They married at St Bartholemews Church, Great Harwood in Lancashire, England on 27th Feb 1945.
Sometime after that they travelled to America.

The 'W' in her name is new to me but could indicate her maiden name.
Did Edgar travel with her to America ?
I have her death cert, she died April 1947 in a hospital in England and I believe that she travelled back from America alone. She must have been poorly and frightened.
I want to know as much as there is.

No idea what " ' single, with dependants" is.

It's common in the US to use the maiden name as the middle name. That would explain the W.

Someone has his dad on their tree on Ancestry. Has him dying in 1942. Perhaps his dependants were younger siblings?

I don't know of any records for travel back to the UK.

The record is for Alien Passengers so I've no idea if Edgar was with her.
