Lisa J in California Report 15 Aug 2007 04:41

Germaine, I've 'missed' seeing people on immigration records before so perhaps I'm not seeing it again, but I don't see your Leah's record in 1929. There's this, but she was born in Scranton. New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 Name: Leah Musgrave Arrival Date: 10 Apr 1929 Estimated birth year: 1884 Age: 45 Gender: Female Port of Departure: Hamilton, Bermuda Ship Name: Bermuda Port of Arrival: New York, New York Nativity: Pennsylvania Line: 15 Microfilm Serial: T715 Microfilm Roll: T715_4467 Birth Location: Pennsylvania Birth Location Other: Scranton Page Number: 251 There's a chance this Leah was travelling with the Jermyn family, as the Jermyn's are listed above Leah and they were all from Scranton and returning to Scranton.

Are you or your distant relative 'Nev'?

Germaine Report 15 Aug 2007 08:48

hi Lisa. Thanks Yes that is the one I was looking at for her in 1929, I know the age was wrong but on checking the1930 cenus I couldn't find another Leah in Scranton either . So thought well she has her wrong before about her age, just maybe. I too noticed she was born in Scranton. Whch has made me wonder. But thought maybe!!. Thought it may give me a date to work on for now. I too wondered if she was with the Jerymns looked like it could be . Perhaps just a coincedence with the name maybe she was their nanny or something not our Leah at all. No Lisa not Nev. Not come across a Nev in the Leadbetter's. Germaine

Hi Germaine. I was in the middle of checking out the immigration records when the house shook rather strongly. It was a small earthquake, but large enough to throw my concentration off. Trying to get back to where I was...did you notice that Isaac and Annie Brewer are listed under Charles Leadbetter and John Musgrave on their immigration record and several Brewer family members are listed above Leah Leadbetter's name. All Brewer's and Leah were going to Scranton. Wonder what the connection was. (Note: I found the following earlier tonight and it just dawned on me that it is regarding the above.) Someone posted a family tree for Leah Leadbetter but apparently it was removed. 'We are currently unable to find the tree you are trying to access. We may be experiencing technical difficulties, or it is possible that the tree owner has removed this tree.' BREWER FAMILY TREE Name: Leah Leadbetter Birth: Abt 1878 - Isle of Man Parents: Leah Leadbetter Spouse: Jack Musgrave Name: Leah Leadbetter Birth: 1853 - Ripponden, Yorkshire, England

Name: John Musgrave Birth: 1876 - Cumberland, England John Musgrave Born: 1876 in Workington, Cumberland, England The person who submitted the information chooses to not make the tree publicly viewable. 'Nev's Family Tree'

Hi Lisa oh I bet that was scarey. I have just got an earthquake arrive, My little granson a waking earth quake. Now I have set him off just told him the lady I am talking to has just had an earthquake guess what we will be having all day.:-)) Right back to the Leadbetter's Yes that is my distant cousin Val. Charles married one of the Brewers they all travelled together in little groups. We have a lot on the family just these two are a mystery as to when they married where etc. They seemed to have left the family group at some time and gone off on their own. According to the orbits in the 1930's Oh yes she is having problems with her tree on ancestry Germaine x

This may not be any connection (I don't see any yet) but it mentions Musgrave/Musgrove and Brewer. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb*com/~lzrslong/b3005.htm (replace * with .)

Oh right I see about Nev not seen his tree might be worth sending him an email . He might be to another John Musgrave as I think off hand that ours was born Whitehaven. ( very close to Workington.) That is one of the problems we have been having which JM it was that is why we need a marriage though I think the deaths might help on this as it seems ourr John was JWM. Germaine x

Trying to type in the dark...not working too well. (It's almost 2:00 a.m. here and I should turn off the computer soon, since I do have to work 'tomorrow'.) I remember when my 'boys' were younger - sigh, I sure miss those days (they're teenagers now). I've checked around and don't see anything yet: Rootsweb, GenForum, Interment, Find A Grave, inGeneas, Miami cemetery sites, Scranton museums. I also have been checking the 1930 census (keeping in mind they may have been in the UK at that time). I will think of other places to try. Please say hi to your grandson for me. :) It's dark on this side of the world and a bit chilly here. Night for now. ---------------------------- PS Sorry to hear it's not the right John.
