You need to install a fire wall as this stops any worms from entering your PC.

Cheers Jill, I've got Norton set to auto-update so I should be OK.

Helen, ME is OK. Just make sure that you have downloaded any critical updates. If you have an automatic update facility there is nothing else you need do.

The information I've received from Virgin, my ISP, says it's affecting Windows 2000 & XP but others should be OK. I'm on ME, has anyone had problems with this, or are Virgin correct. Also Virgin say the Virus is affecting the speed of the internet for everyone. I seem to be on a bit of a go slow tonight, anyone else worse than usual?

There is a free 'clean-up' tool on www.avp.ch Which is the swiss site for Kaspersky antivirus products. It is a small dos programme called clrav and it beats as it sweeps as it cleans etc. Roger

Hi All, I just had the 'worm' that you are all referring to. Known as 'Lovsan', 'blaster', 'poza', etc. It does shut you down, within 60 seconds and the reasons it gives vary tremendously! I found the information on the 'pcservicecall' site. Well worth taking a look to find out what you need to do before it strikes! It also makes it very difficult to download the 'worm buster tool kit' and the microsoft 'patch' that you need. I had an up-to-date anti-virus system and it didn't stop it shutting me down. Linda.

You need to download the Microsoft patch for extra protection against this particular Blaster Worm. If you have Norton anti-virus software you would have had a e-mail message from Symantec with the patch download supplied.

Marion Report 15 Aug 2003 14:28

If your anti-virus is up to date you should be ok. On the 16th if one Pc gets infected and sends it out it will flood the Microsoft windows update site with hits, multiply this by the hundreds of thousands of Pcs that will be affected and will knock the Microsoft update off the internet due to the excess of traffic.

Hi Christine and Tina, Whenever you are looking for details of Web sites or information - use a good search engine like google(.)com. Just type in what you are looking for and it comes up with the web addresses, you then just click on the one that you want. It's as easy as that... Let me know if you need more help. Regards Margaert
