hi carol think i,ll have to invest in some credits with them. yes it is a fairly unusual name unfortunatey my grandmother decided to change it to sometime before 1932 as my father is registered as geddes. sue

It was on 1837online With a name like that it was only 1 page a quarter.

Susan do you live near a Library with a Local Studies dept/ Ask for the St Catherines index of Births,marraiges and daeth's they are on Micro fiche and they should help and show you what to do. Ann,Darlington

Hi It may be worth checking to see if he dies jubefore the birth of james as this was the case of my grandmother conceived but died before the birth sally

If you can't find it on FreeBMD because it is incomplete, then go to your local library - especially if it is a large one - they will most likely have a Family History Dept where the BMD indexes (or indices) for England and Wales are kept on microfilm. Kathy

Hi, The death will be on the GRO index on the website you mention and also on film or fiche in record office, LDS centres and larger libraries. Gwynne

how do i find record of someones death? john gerdes married isabella ashcroft in1869 liverpool . on 1881 census isabella is a widow with 3 children john,frederick and james ,so he must have died between 1879 -(after james was born) and 1881. i cant find any record of this, is it likely to be on the 1837online site?
