how do i find record of someones death? john gerdes married isabella ashcroft in1869 liverpool . on 1881 census isabella is a widow with 3 children john, frederick and james ,so he must have died between 1879 -(after james was born) and 1881. i cant find any record of this, is it likely to be on the 1837online site?

If you can't find it on FreeBMD because it is incomplete, then go to your local library - especially if it is a large one - they will most likely have a Family History Dept where the BMD indexes (or indices) for England and Wales are kept on microfilm. Kathy
