My G Grandad was a carpenter in the Royal Navy.I have not found him in the 1891 census or the 1901 census. I don't know which ship he served on.Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to find him.His name is John James Roskruge (often misspelt) he was born 2/1/1861 at Falmouth Cornwall.I have tried leaving out the surname on the search but still I have not found him. |

Sandra, searched through the 1901 census probably the same as yourself. The only John Roskruge born Falmouth is only 8 years old, so possibly the son of the John you are looking for. I do not know the procedure for people who are at sea during a census, but I am sure someone will be able to tell you soon. |
