Hi Elaine not a problem I will print this of and take it with me on Sat. Have you had any emails they all kept bouncing not to worry I know I can definatly get you on this board Im going Sat afternoon so it may be Sunday before I get it posted ,but I will do it asap. How's it going? Honest its not a problem did Salford look at Eccles parish SAINT MARY THE VIRGIN, ECCLES, Church Street http://www(.)ecclesparishchurch(.)co(.)uk/ or it could be St Andrews. http://fp(.)tezcat(.)f9(.)co(.)uk/st-andrews/history_tour.htm Christ Church Liverpool Road Patricroft Eccles There is a Trinity free church but that was built in 1893. Central Eccles There is also St Mary's catholic church. Liverpool Road (I always called the jesus.joseph and mary church its whats written over the door!) St. James, Hope, Eccles Old Road, Pendleton Registers from 1861 St. Paul w. Christ Church, Ellor Street, Pendleton Registers from 1846 I will try and find the marriage and birth dates anyway If I get to the archives in Manchester (Different building to the GRO I will have a look there as well) That has more registrations than Salford, When I go Sat to the GRO I will try and get to Manchester archives. right bed Jan zzzzzzzzzz

JANET ... I am unable to send e.mails for some unknown reason ... re: Saturday and Manch Office .. I was wondering if it would be a big job to look for the marriage in Eccle's parish for me. I know they weren't married at Eccle's between 1800 - 1812, and I doubt they married after 1818, so I wondered if it would take long to search 1813 - 1818 ? I have no idea what this would entail .. so am I being really rude in asking ? ..if so, please forgive me .. and tell me straight ! Apparently, only a few Cathedral marriages were left off the IGI .. but ECCLE'S marriages were NOT put on IGI, so its looking like my James & Sarah possibly married at Trinty Church, Eccles. I will understand if you say NO ! Regards Elaine.

THANKS to all ... I have now ordered a copy of my James Will ..!! it will be 1 -3 weeks before I get hold of it but that is far quicker than I ever would have dreamed of without help from all you Angels out there. Also, in amongst all the advice and copies of images I have received an address for James in 1825 .. 3, Aldred St, Salford .. together with the info that the premises were also shared by another company Wm Hall & Co, so I might be able to gleen something from that info as well. I have also found out that he was an Auctioneer as far back as 1816 .. and at this time he also had a partner (Breeze) for the Drysalting part of his business. To top it all, in 1825 I have found another uncommon surname that I have on my tree, from the same area, James's son married into this family !!!... so maybe I have unwittingly been sent some info that I would never have looked for !! I can not thank you all enough. I hope that I can help others just a fraction of the help I've received ! THANKYOU X

Me again Elaine, I just read your post about the will Cheshire say they have for James Shawcross 1829. That's on ancestry too. Cheshire Wills - Shawcross, James, Ashton-upon-Mersey, yeoman. Sep 1829 I found one of my wills on ancestry, same thing, supposed to be at Cheshire, but as my chap lived in Liverpool, it had been transferred to the Lancashire Record Office. I got a copy from them by return of post and it cost me all of £3. Please ring the Lancs record office and ask them if they have your James' will too. I really hope they have or if not hope they can tell you where it is now. Never give up hope. Best wishes, Carole

Hi Elaine, You don't owe me a thing :-)) I'm just glad this is your man.....and I've just found something else of interest on there. A directory of Manchester dated 1816-1817 (England Commercial Directory) has him listed as an auctioneer, address 1 Chapel Walks, Manchester. Mail me through GC and I can mail you back and send you an image of the directory page. Best wishes, Carole
