Jenny, i can't thank you enough! I have used this site endlessly since the library week free trial and was panicking today when i couldn't get in. Luckily i came across this thread and your excellent recommendation to access it through the Bedfordshire Libraries website - and it worked!! To anyone else who is going to access through this route, make sure when you register that you put in your email address. It is not asterixed as compulsory info and if you don't put it in, they can't email you your library card no. and pin no. Happy hunting! Thanks again Jenny! Pippa

I have tried to log in using trial as username and password. It lets me in put takes me to another password page under the K12 Maryland Digital Library. Did this happen before?

Thanks everyone - glad it's not just me! Fortunately, while I WAS able to get in, I saved most of the images I'd found in 'my pictures'. I'm VERY glad I did that now! Yes, we were lucky it was free for so long. Janet

All, Hadn't been on the site for a while - hadn't realised they'd shut us out!! Jenny, Can you still get in through Bedfordshire Libraries Online now that the free trial seems to have finished? Maggie

Kim Report 8 Jul 2004 20:58

Last week you only needed a "password" NOT a username this week you need a username. The trial was only supposed to be for a Week in the End of May and I think they left it open by mistake. I think it has now been shut down which is why we are having trouble getting in. If you google "times digital archives" you will see it it really for students and universities and that you have to pay a fee to get in at all unless registered .We were just lucky they left it open so long!! The link and the password are not the problem. Tell us what the username is! How are you all getting in without it?

I too have been trying to get into this site, but it won't let me in either I keep getting "page cannot be displayed".

Can someone email me the link please? I got in ages ago and found something on one of my ancestors. I saved the page in my favourites but now I can't get back in that way, or by any of the methods listed on this thread. Most frustrating. Angela

Hello Maggie I've used this site really successfully in my family history work finding Angliss murderers, murdereees, debutantes and businessmen. I accessed it via Bedfordshire Libraries website at www.bedfordshire.gov.uk then Libraries. You don't need to live in Bedfordshire as I do to be an online member and it's free. Jenny

Hi Maggie, this seems to be a really interested site, thanks very much, but I just can't get in!! Very frustrating. I type in the password "trial" but then it wants a username, and I've tried all the other suggestions on this thread. Help would be very much appreciated. Kate xx

Maggie wonder could you help me get in please. I get the page but they want the username as well as the password which I tried using (trial all lower case), its not working, says invalid I suppose its because I dont know the username. Please help when you get a chance. Pat x

I've been in and out of this site on numerous occasions over the past 6 weeks, and have managed to get some really valuable information. However - I can't get in any more! It keeps asking for an id and password. Does anyone know if the free trial has ended now? Janet

Well, I've been in to the site on several occasions since seeing this thread - and I've found some very interesting information too about relatives, including addresses, which could prove helpful. I've also got Norton - so that can't be the reason why some people aren't getting in, can it? Thanks so much Maggie for leading me to this site which has been a real eye-opener! Janet

Hi, To everyone having problems - have you got Norton? If so, go to this address: http://libraryweek.galedemo(.)com/history.htm Then turn off Norton BEFORE clicking on The Times link halfway down the page. It should bypass the Username/Password page altogether and go straight to the Search page. Don't forget to turn your Norton back on once on the Search page! Hope this helps! Pippa.
