You would like to see it altered on Genes where it says"allow members to view your tree" there is already a tick there to let someone view I think it should be the other way round tick if you want someone to see your tree, you don't always remember if you are in a hurry to send a reply to delete the tick......Also anything else that you would like to see altered maybe if we all agree they will do something.......... |

Definitely! It's the wrong way round completely and there seem to be so many confused GR members. Mandy :( |

I'll vote for that , I nearly forgot the other day when sending a message and it was actually nothing relevant to my tree! so it should be an opt in message format NOT an opt out. COME ON GENES REUNITED LISTEN TO US PLEASE. Sioux |

Definately the wrong way round. I have a number in my contacts list where I have access to the tree. These are people who have simply thanked me for something. Their trees have no relation to mine so do not really interest me, and I have never looked at them, but others may not be so disinterested. |

I'm in with that as well. I am quite new on this board and only realised after several messages that I had given my tree to other people. Although I have made three definate contacts I still haven't recieved their trees in return. I think this is partly because I joined just about the time the board was changed., and older members are still thinking the old system works. How did it work before the changes? Confused, Jean |

I agree too, it's totally numb how it's set up now. Jacquie |

I agree too. I have got access to about half a dozen trees that I have not asked to see and are nothing to do with my family, just that people have forgotten to uncheck the box. I also agree with the comments about the emails looking jumbled when they are all in one long paragraph. It really is time that GR (or GC as I still prefer) started listening to paying members. Hiya Sue I had a thread running about this the other week on here and quite a few poeple emailed GR about it. Doesn't look like they've taken any notice does it! But I'll stick my hand up aswell cos it's utterly ridiculous Jeanette x |

See also the thread (with 64 posts, so far) for additional support for this view: SERIOUS SUGGESTION Jeanette In East Yorkshire And yes, those single-para e-mails (and thread-headings) are a pain! Christine |

I emailed Gr about 2 weeks ago, as going through my contacts I had access to 3 peoples trees that I have not connection with. I contacted these persons to advise them, and then put the point forward to GR that this system should be changed. Didn't expect any change but a bit disappointed that I have not had an acknowledgement to my email so far. Kim |

We should be in control of the information we put in our trees -why not make it easy for all of us? I often don't remember if I'm in a hurry. As for the email messages - I've just looked at one I sent earlier with a list of names from a census. It took me ages to type in a neat way and it's reduced to a mess! Why is the formatting different to the message boards? And shouldn't GR do something about it to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act?!! Jan |

I'm with you on this Sue - must admit never really noticed it before. Now someone has sent message to say I can view their tree but when I try to their name isn't on my list. Something not quite right somewhere and needs looking at. Mary |
