You can find the full county details on the LDS site - I think the route is something like Products Databases Vital Records Indexes BIVRI2 Counties

Hi David. Please could you tell me if the counties of Worcestershire and Staffordshire are well covered on the cds. Thanks Joyce.

Many thanks for that Dave I see I'm going to be busy even if it is only to look to see what is listed. Just glad I have added an extra 80Gb hard drive and an extra 512Mb of Memory, oh ! and a DVD Read/Write Drive. "Walter" City of Lincoln

Tina - BIVRI presents information about christenings and marriages in a similar way to the IGI, but covers a different range of records. (There are a few overlaps.) Walter - The set comprises 16 CDs plus an installation CD for the "viewer". The whole lot comes in a nice folder measuring 11½" x 7½" - so you had better be in when the postman turns up! Dave

Just ordered BIVRI from LDS Birmingham, £22.95. I also wanted thei9r IGI CDs but you can only get them direct from Utah and have to pay all Tax's, VATs etc. what a bummer. Anyone know how many discs there are for BIVRI ?? "Walter" City of Lincoln

Please could someone tell me what is the difference between the information that is included on these discs, and that which is obtainable from the IGI, FreeBMD and 1837 online? Does the BIVRI cover parts which the others do not reach (to slightly distort a well known phrase)? Tina

Wales is very poorly covered (17,000 baps) Lancs has the biggest number (825,000) but its probably the most populous county. Probably the "best" counties relative to their size are Wilts (526,000) and Lincs (390,000). At the other end of the scale is Leics (611), Cumb (7285) and Cornwall (6249).

Are Lancashire and Wales fairly well covered ?? And why the distinction for Family History CD Orders ?? "Walter" City of Lincoln

Hi Margaret My copy cost £22.95 when ordered by phone last November. Yorkshire: 371,661 birth + christenings, 94,648 marriages. Derbyshire: 220,759 b + c; marr 52,885 England total: 6,701,915 b + c; marr 1,709,525 Derbyshire looks fairly well covered, Yorkshire less so. For the price, 16 CD's is not bad. Dave

BIVRI2 costs about £22 when ordered from the Birmingham LDS place.

Thank you everyone for your comments, now I understand about version 4!! David, I am looking mainly in the Yorkshire and Derbyshire areas. Are these covered, if not I suppose it is not worth me buying. Do you know the price of version 2, I can't seem to get into the LDS site area for this. King regards, Margaret

Hi Margaret If you're going to buy BIVRI from the LDS (not eBay) don't order it from their website - you'll end up paying a lot to import it. Better to order it from their UK Distribution Centre. The details I have are: LDS Church Distribution Centre 399 Garretts Green Lane Birmingham B33 0UH Tel: 0121 785 2200 Direct Line for Family History CD orders by debit/credit card: 0870 010 20 51 Although the index coverage is pretty impressive overall, it's a bit patchy and quite sparse in some counties. Which particular areas are you interested in? Dave

Hi, Please can you tell me how much it will cost from LDS including postage and tax - also how long roughly is it likely to take to arrive - is it shipped from within Britain. thanks. Val Hi again everyone - In case anyone is interested - have managed to find phone number in the UK for LDS distribution centre and ordered direct - total cost inc vat and postage and packing - £22.95 - delivery apparently take about 48 hours and should be with me TODAY!!! I had been bidding on ebay and noticed that they are selling for up to £50 (mostly from just one seller) Val

Hi, Viewer 4 allows you to do keyword searches on the 1881 discs which is very handy given the amount of mistranscribed records. It also makes address searches possible. If you buy the Mormon immigration disc it comes with that. Gwynne

I think the viewer can also be used with censuses but on its own its not much use without the data disks.
