Brain still ticking away here, if you know when they died you could trace them back that way. The death cert will give you their age at death (or even their date of birth if you're lucky). It should even say their occupations and the female's occupations generally say wife of.... if they were married. There's always a way around things, it's just a matter of keeping looking.

Hi Rachel, aah a whole different can of worms, all I know is that Harry was buried in Heywood, when I phoned the cemetery they have no Harry Shaw there. I have no idea where Muriel died, hence trying to track down a place of marriage to be certain which name I am looking for. Lisa

Well what I'd do would be to get Muriel's first marriage certificate then you'd have something definite on her to work back from and be trying to find the second marriage in the meantime.
