Hi Maureen, I am definitely a computer nitwit but I had a very similar problem my pooter would not shut down. It was nothing to do with FTM - or even Norton in the end, although that wasn't helping. Do you have Broadband? It was my BT Broadband Voyager modem causing all the aggravation. In the end BT changed it but it took forever because it never entered my mind it was the modem until much later. Sorry no help but just in case you have the same modem. Regards Jan

Jan, Thank you for your reply. I do not have broadband - just pay for 150 hours internet usage per month with BT Yah**. There must be a conflict somewhere as three times is too much of a coincidence. Maureen Lawrence P.S. sorry folks for any confusion with the name. I usually use Glitter Baby but did change to my real name for a short while.

Maureen, Shut down internet connection and then disable what ever 'Anti virus ' you have and try an install. I turn off my 'Anti Virus' when installing anything, as that is what is recommended, no probs here. Kim Sorry the 'd' was not meant to be there

Maureen, ComputerActive magazine has a very helpful forum where you can ask questions and people with more computer savvy come to the rescue. I had a problem and found the answer in the 'search' without even having to ask the question. I would give it a go. You easily find their website from the name of the magazine. Anne
