Hi I hope some one can help me??????? I am trying to send Census images to people after I have done look ups for them on Ancestry but they are writing back to me saying that they are not recieving them correctly. They are either cut in half or cant enlarge it..or its arrived to big ..or they cant view it at all What am I doing wrong Some do arrive ok but others dont. I have saved them in my pc and then attached them to an Email I have also sent them direct from the image. There has got to be an easier way to do it.. Can anyone help me??? Thanxs Going LOOPIER Lesley

A common problem is sending people files which are too big. If the filename is xxxxx.bmp, these are probably 2-3 megabytes. Open the image then File/'Save as' xxxxx.jpg - these are about one tenth of the size.

Hi Lesley, There may be another way to do this, but this is how I do it. 'Changing to JPEG'..... Right click on your image, Choose 'open with' and another box will open on the side, Click on paint, The image will open onto windows paint, Go to file (top left hand side), Choose 'save as', At the bottom choose JPEG Then click save. Hope it works for you Kaye.

How are you saving them from Ancestry? You should be able to save them as JPG files by clicking on the little disc icon (''save'') which is immediately above the image, to the right. When you click on this, a file-save dialog box should appear, where you enter the filename. Make sure that the ''save as type'' box on this dialog is set to ''JPEG file''. Richard

I was having a problem with sending images too. Some people said they received them others didnt. I was told by someone the images time out so I only send when the person is there to receive them. I got someone to send me one and it appeared just like you would see the image yourself. I was able to use the drag and magnify too.I dont know how long the image stayed there but those I sent to and they received it copied it without any problem My problem was I was in NZ and sending possibly when some were asleep. Hope this helps Margaret

Lesley The programme Valerie is referring to is WINZIP. It will compress your file but not by very much when it is an image. The Save As - JPEG is a much better option. Hope you can sort it. Lynne

If you're using windows xp, you can download a powertoy from their website (free). After downloading, if you right mouseclick over a saved picture, there will be a resize picture option. SS
