Angela If you're starting new threads unnecessarily, is it because you can't find your old ones? If so, there's an option to show only the threads you've got entries in - which obviously includes the ones you've started. If it's still a bit hard to see, you can then cut down the list by using the search-function to find one of your-reply threads with the right topic. If you then click on the All Replies option, you can see everyone's contributions in that thread. Christine

1887 isn't too early. For example If he's born June 1887 and married May 1920 he won't have reached his 33rd birthday by the time he was married (in fact, not until June 1920), so he'll show as 32. Christine

PS I've added some lay-out improvements to my earlier post so that you can read it more easily. They are all George E Jones! Christine

I think I've found the 1887 GEJ, but he's probably this one: Name: Jones, George Edward Record Type: Births Quarter: June Year: 1887 District: Kings Norton County: Staffordshire Warwickshire Worcestershire Volume: 6c Page: 480 so not your man. Christine

There is this one - but he's either younger than he claims at marriage, or the birth was recorded late: Name: Jones, Evan George Record Type: Births Quarter: June Year: 1889 District: Merthyr Tydfil County: Breconshire Glamorgan Mid Glamorgan Volume: 11a Page: 572 It's also a fair distance from where you were expecting! While I'm monopolising the thread, I may as well suggest that the 1920 marriage could be this one: West Midlands Marriage indexes for the years: 1920 Surname Forename(s) / Surname / Forename(s) / Church / Register Office / Registers At / Reference JONES / George E / BAYLISS / Mary A / Smethwick, St Paul / Sandwell / 9/5/151 Christine

Looks like you're down to a systematic run through the people called George Jones in the 1891 census and who have a father called Frederick - starting with the Birmingham area, and then working outwards. Christine

Angela - you didnt upset me- just in case you thought you did- just that i am not sure where you are going or how sure you are about what you have asked us to look up! (if the ref had the mothers maiden name for that George Ewan.evan jones , would you know it anyway?)

Dea Report 29 Nov 2005 23:16

Angela, If it was my message that made you think you had upset people - please do not worry - I too am often guilty of getting over-excited when I find a lead to follow. Just learn from experience and follow one lead at a time - on one thread at a time. - That way you won't confuse people (which is all I was - confused !! - not upset. ). Don't be put off asking for help as there are a lot of very helpful people on here. - Just take things one step at a time. Best wishes and good luck in your search. Dea
