Hi Pink, Just did a quick search for the name Queenie and it appears to be a name in its own right... Though sure a few people might have used it as a nick name of sorts.. Debs x

Thanks Richard...... can't find anything else that would be relevant in the right area so i think I'll send for the Certificate and keep everything crossed!! Grandma thought it was Queenie too but then she didn't realise that Connie was in fact registered as CONSTANCE!! Thanks for your help!! xx

Queenie is a name in its own right. However, it was also sometimes used as a nickname for a girl who had the same name as the monarch. If she was born 1904-1910, that was some 200 years after the last Queen Mary, however! The monarch at the time was Edward VII, but his wife was Alexandra, not Mary. Still possible that your Queenie was a nickname though but I think that you'd need more supporting evidence to be sure.

One of my grandmothers siblings born roughly 1904-1910 was known as QUEENIE..... Now having searched all records painstakingly, the only one that makes any sense would be MARY CECILIA HEDGE - is this likely or am I just trying to piece it together and adding 2+2 and getting 73?
