Glen In Tinsel Knickers Report 23 May 2006 17:08

The address in the 61 is Steep Hill, which just fits nicely with the address for Marthas father and sister in the later census. The Lincoln census are all St Swithins,St Mary Le Wigford and the High St/The Strait/Steep Hill (about 600 yds worth of them anyhow) Time to do an index sheet or two methinks. Thanks to everyone for your help.It is much appreciated. Glen

The marriage cert does show John as father. I have just found that 51 census image, 1861 Ann 1818 Head Charlotte 1850 daur >>>>George 1842 Son Luisa 1838 Daur William 1823 Son 1841 Ann 1811 Eliza 1834 >>>John 1806 Joseph 1836 Louisa 1838 William 1826 George and Marthas' daur Lilly was in fact Lilly Louise,so maybe that is an omen too. Glen In Tinsel Knickers Report 23 May 2006 15:46

This all started because George Graby was witness to the Martha Elmer/George Chambers wedding! I think the best thing i can do is print the whole of St Mary Le Wigford from the 1901,then highlight where each one went visiting!!!!! The other witness was Jane Browning, and Martha's sister married a Browning!!!So many weddings connected to the one certificate in one way or another Thanks again Glen

I notice the George Chambers(nephew) that was living with George Graby and wife Eliza(Chambers) in 1881 also gave some of his children the Graby name. The family were obviously very grateful to him for taking them in, also I notice they never had children of their own. Looks like this George is brother Joseph's son? Sure are a lot of George's! I have the same George problem with my Shemwell family, good job I have Shemwell as a surname though. 1901. Florence Graby Chambers abt 1899 Lincolnshire, England Daughter St Mary le Wigford Lincolnshire .........> George Henry Chambers abt 1879 Lincolnshire, England Head St Mary le Wigford Lincolnshire Nellie Graby Chambers abt 1896 Lincolnshire, England Daughter St Mary le Wigford Lincolnshire Sarah Jane Chambers abt 1874 Billinghay, Lincolnshire, England Wife St Mary le Wigford Lincolnshire Sarah Jane Chambers abt 1894 Lincolnshire, England Daughter St Mary le Wigford Lincolnshire

Nice work!! I worked out the line for Martha and all her Georges' (dad, uncles, cousins etc). I suppose i got 'Georged out' and kept getting thrown by the George W and the George Groby refernce. I'll have a bash for the death cert with the ref you found (both Lincoln and the GRO quoting mid June delivery though so who knows we might know one way or the other) Thanks for your help Glen

I'd just found the Graby name and wondered where it fits in. There's this death from NBI George Graby Chambers Abode St Mary le W,Newland St West Buried 02/04/1897 Age 4m Cemetery Lincoln, Canwick Road Plot A2594 So it must be a family name.......but the right family? Could this be a son for George William and Clara?

On the 1901 with Edward and Ernest I think they may have got their ages the wrong way around. This looks like Ernests birth. Births Sep 1891 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHAMBERS Ernest Graby Lincoln 7a 518
