I have only just caught the end of this tale but looking on freebmd I found this Have you searched out this already? Hi Gwyneth, Sorry I must have totally lost the plot last night That should read ELLEN. Where I got Emma from I do not know. I did spot the one you found but thought better of it for the following reasons. 1 1861 census Charles and Ellen 27 and 31 living with Sister in Law Elizabeth Jones. Tracked Elizabeth back and forth could not be sure that I had Ellen although I think I found her in 51. 2 I have no way of checking at the moment that this is MY Charles so not able to reference against father in any way. Lots of possibles and uncertainties nothing concrete. Hence giving up. For now.

sorry, hit the wrong item and got cut off. She claimed born in Winchmore Hill which eventually turned out to be in Buckinghamshire, not north London/Middlesex, then she changed it to Mile End !!! They told census enumerators any old story that suited the moment. No help tu us at all.
